Myra during Roberts Rebellion sounds like a fascinating AU. Would she be Lyannas twin? And wouldcshe still get together with Jaime?
Yes, she would be Lyanna's twin, which already makes things outrageously complicated lol.
The goal would be for her to have a relationship with Jaime of some kind, but I haven't dived too deeply into how. But the sheer angst of it all is so 👌. Cause I want her in King's Landing. She and Jaime being of the same age, isolated and terrified. She has to witness the deaths of Rickard and Brandon? Jaime has to just sit there and watch?? Ohhhhh yesssss.
A concept: Theon Greyjoy falling in love with (and lowkey obsessing over) Y/N Stark.
In truth, he was always fond of you.
A hostage of House Stark, Theon was left starving for affection and approval, left begging for scraps of it. He knows his place, you both do, and yet...you're the one who notices him.
Not in the way other women do, you never feed his ego.
Rather, you actually see Theon as he is, flaws and all, and you care about him, becoming something of an addiction to him. As children, he'd tease you a little in front of others, pulling your hair and calling you silly names (and beating up anyone else who attempted to do the same, no disrespect his lady). But you took care of him too and it showed in private moments. Alone, Theon would be so much softer. Sweeter.
You'd tend to your wounds after training, chiding him to be more careful (but he was always a little too daring and besides, he liked having you care for him). Late at night, Theon would use a hidden passage to sneak to your bedroom, a warm little corner of the castle. You'd stay up playing games quietly and sharing treats. He'd tell you stories of the Iron Islands and mermaids, pirates and salt and rock wives (you misunderstood it as a child and took the stories literally, thinking there were wives out there made of salt and stone...when you confessed this years later, he laughed and laughed).
Yes, he was fond of you (something your mother and father noticed, not that they could do anything about it...even when Cate tried, Theon found ways around her), and when you were sent away for a summer to visit your mother's people, Theon felt his heart break a little and could not understand why. He'd come to see you the night before you left, giving you something...his kraken pendant, the one he always wore and the only gift he had from his father.
"I can't take this, Theon, it's yours."
"You'll give it back," he said firmly, "when you come home, you'll give it back to me."
And you gave him your dire wolf pendant, always hidden beneath his shirt as he waits for you. But a summer turned into a year, circumstances keeping you away, a full year until you came home again. And when you did, something had changed.
A little girl had stepped onto that carriage and a woman stepped out of it.
In anticipation of your homecoming, your family bustled about to ready everything. Theon knew he wasn't wanted there, not really, and took a ride alone, knowing he'd find you in the quiet later on. But it would be him that found you first, spotting a carriage riding quickly. He rode alongside it, grinning as you called his name. At your order, the carriage stopped and Theon hurried off of his horse to meet you...but he barely realized who it was looking at him until you spoke his name again.
"Theon! Oh, I've missed you," you laugh as you reach out to him.
He took your hand, feeling fire burn beneath his skin at the touch of you. Beautiful. You were beautiful and you didn't move away when he kissed your hand. It would be Theon that brought you home, riding in front of him upon his horse (and he'll never forget the feeling of holding you tight against him, bodies pressed close and heart thundering in his chest). Robb met you first, lifting you into his arms and whisking you away, Theon's heart aching all over again as you were taken from him.
He ached until you found him again. You'd brought gifts for everyone, of course, never forgetting a one of them (not even Jon, your favorite along with Arya)...and you didn't forget Theon, catching him in the quiet.
"Don't you want your gift?"
It would have been improper to ask for a kiss, of course, though the thought crossed his mind...still, he was delighted over your gift, a black blade as sharp and cruel as the night. The sheath was black as well, the leather decorated with an underwater vision of swirling waves, a furious kraken...and a mermaid.
He remembers the story at once, the beautiful mermaid that sooths a storm and monster with her song.
And he tells it to you again that night, Theon sneaking into your room and laying with you in front of the fire. Telling you stories through the night, Theon tries not to gaze at the curves beneath the thin nightgown (and you pretend that his hand is not resting low on your hip, holding you tight against him) and hoping that, as you rest upon his chest, you cannot hear the hammering of his heart. He dreams of you that night, seeing you like a light in the dark as a storm rages, bare body pressed to his in a moment of passion. When he awakens, hard and heart aching, he still hears your voice, feels your hands on his chest, soft whimpers and sweet confessions.
"Theon!"
After that, he's lost, so lost.
He dreams of stealing you away and taking you to the Iron Islands. There, he'd have no other wife, only you...and he wouldn't be an outsider anymore.
He'd be home. He'd be loved.
But he knows that your mother would never allow you to marry a Greyjoy so he steadies himself with whatever he can beg, borrow, and steal. You still clean him up after training and battles and he takes you riding, laughter breaking sweetly through the bitter air as Theon chases after you. And at night, when it's late, Theon comes to you and holds you close as he tells you stories...you come close to it so many times before it finally happens.
He kisses you.
War has broken out and they are to go away, him and Robb, to fight. Weeping as you hold him, Theon sees no reason to hold back anymore, not when facing the maw of war. He confesses his love and you confess your own, kissing him as the fire burns.
He takes you that night, all of his dreams comin true within your lips.
And he does not leave until dawn breaks, only when he has no other choice...with one last kiss, Theon swears to do everything in his power to come home to you. Once more, you give one another your pendants, his kraken upon your heart and your dire wolf worn proudly now.
In this story, he does not betray Robb.
Instead, he uncovers a plot his father and brothers have started against the Starks...and you. You were to be killed or, perhaps worse, married off to one of his brothers. A furious Theon ends the plot brutally, his father dying by his blade, the very one you gave him, and in doing so he saves you all. Only his sister remains alive, having risked everything to save you. He becomes the King then, King of the Iron Islands, and in return for his loyalty (as well as a new treaty), Robb gives him everything he ever wanted:
You.
Finally, after all of these years, you are his wife. Some might call him kinslayer but you call him husband and that sounds so sweet upon your lips. Theon is never without you, a pack of children running about and a babe in your belly almost always (somehow the crushing loneliness turned into a breeding kink).
He is home, he is happy...and he is loved, completely, forever and ever.
For @have-fun-storming-the-kastle and her masterpiece of a story - A Vow without Honor! I just wanted to say that I LOVE this story! After the disaster of the last season of GOT, I was so disappointed and angry about Jaime’s arc and how it ended! However, I now consider this story to be canon in the GOT universe! I can’t wait to see what awaits Jaime and Myra next! Thank you for writing Jaime so well and giving him the character arc he deserves! (I mostly created this small piece in honor of chapter 50 where they return to Kings Landing). I hope you like it!
