I have survived, but I have not been spared.
❝ I AM SO sorry for your loss, Jo- I mean Prince Joshua… Noone should ever have to see their parent that way... ❞
Her words could only offer up a slight comfort to him. She waslucky, and she knew it. This war would be the easiest burden to bear on she,Innes, and L’archel. They still had families to go home to, guardians to tellthem that they did a job well done. But who would tell Eirika, Ephiram, and nowJoshua good job or tell them that they’ve grown? The words from parents meantso much; to know that no matter what, your family was there, and you werefighting for them, for their safety. To watch that all go to the wind had to ofbeen a pain that Tana prayed she would never know. She would never know the pain of losing Innes or her father or her closest friends; this war was kind to her so far.
In the pause she had taken, she had reached out hesitantly towards him, wondering if this gesture would be appreciated, much less appropriate! Still, she went on, and rested her hand on his before smiling softly. Whatever little gesture she could give to Joshua for him to cope, she wanted to give it. It was the least she could do in this time of need.
❝ YOU’VE AVENGED HER and proven that you are worthy of the title she wanted you to bear. You may not have been spared, but I think this was meant to happen, and she wouldn’t change her fate because now she can watch over you and smile from the afterlife. ❞
