Today is the first day of Domestic Violence awareness month! For everyone impacted by DV, whether they survived it, are living it, knew someone who lost their life to it...everyday is DV awareness. I didn’t hear about Domestic Violence awareness month until I survived my last abusive relationship in 2012. If you are a survivor and you have the strength, please share your story. If you know someone who needs help, be there to support them. If you are suffering, know that you are not alone and that lifesaving help is out there. There are so many things in life that work against us and home should not be one of those things. It should be our sanctuary, not our torture chamber. Here, I am pictured in my sanctuary back in 2014 (in my art studio). I wanted to share this picture because this is when I am most at peace internally. Art has given me another chance at life, without it I would be lost in the darkness of the trauma that I survived.
