mig.cervantes: Thanks to my man Goofy for throwing up #myshotatepilepsy. #DisneyIsAwesome
Final post of Epilepsy Awareness Month. Thank you so much to all who participated. It really does make my heart swell. Approximate transcript for those of you who’d rather read, but I have more YT followers than Tumblr and Twitter combined so what does that tell you? I gotta keep up with the kids.
Hi everybody, it's me, Beppy, and today is the last day of Epilepsy Awareness Month. As you can see, the dye's starting to come out. I think I'll go back to pink after it does. I dunno, what wacky midlife crisis color looks best on me? Tell me in the comments!
Okay I know Thanksgiving is over and maybe I should have posted this back then, but I just want to send out my deepest thanks to everyone who's participated in #myshotatepilepsy. Whether you're a close personal friend of mine or someone on Twitter I've never met, all of your pictures and videos made my heart swell. To everyone who donated - and if you haven't and you want to, you totally still can, link in the doobly-doo! - know that your generosity is going to save lives. Maybe mine. Maybe yours.
I especially want to thank my dad, who matched every cent I raised, and my whole extended family for helping me out this month and just being there for me in general. I want to thank my friend Stevo for going in with me on the purple hair, which looks really good on you actually. Of course I want to thank Miguel and Kelly Cervantes, who started the entire #myshotatepilepsy initiatve. Epilepsy awareness and Hamilton are two of my favorite things, so I had a lot of fun doing this. My little bro lives in Chicago and I enter that $10 ticket lottery every time I visit. Someday. *sings* Somedaaay, sooomedayyy.
Subscribers and randos alike, thank you for your supportive comments. I read all of them, even the ones I have to have Google clunkily translate for me. I love hearing that the video is being used to teach people about proper response, which is all due to . . .
Okay, I'm gonna try not to cry - my wonderful amazing husband Steve. Everyone who's seen the original video saw what a caring and compassionate person he is. I tell him all the comments I get about what a great husband he is, and he just shrugs and says "I don't know what makes me so great when all I did was administer first aid to my wife." But of course he does so much more than that. Driving me to doctors' appointments, reminding me to take my meds, being there for me when I get that scary feeling that I might have a seizure but then don't - thanks, VNS! - putting up with my bullshit from time to time . . . I mean, I could go on, but you get it. He's the best in the biz.
And finally, how could I forget Bucky? Besides knowing what to do when I have a seizure, he's my best good boy and he keeps me company and calms me down. Also my cats, Tater, Derpy, and Kiddo, for being my babies even if they don't know first aid. I dunno if a cat has ever seen me seize, but he probably just looked at me for a few seconds and then walked away.
So that's it for now. Thank you so much for all of your support, and remember, it doesn't have to be awareness month for you educate about epilepsy, or to donate to the fine organizations linked in the description. You can do it any time of year!
