IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR MY SCENE/WEBCORE MUTUALS:

Do NOT tag flashing gifs as #epilepsy, #epilepsy warning or #epilepsy tw. As for the first one, that is used as a community tag for epileptic people. Having it flooded with flashing gifs is extremely unsafe. And the other two: Tumblr’s tagging system is fucked. Completely fucked. So fucked, in fact, that Tumblr puts posts tagged as #epilepsy warning or #epilepsy tw into the epilepsy tag. Please tag flashing gifs and videos as #flashing, #flashing tw and #flash warning. If you have posts containing flashing lights and they are not tagged appropriately, please fix them. I am not epileptic myself, but a close friend of mine is and this is a huge problem. Please don’t ignore this!!

As a person with Epilepsy, I swear that if I have to hear one more person say “OMG! I’m totally having a seizure!” or “Haha!! You look like you’re having a seizure!” I am going to put that person on a boat (with no indoor-plumbing) heading to some 3rd-World country.

I cannot process the fact that epilepsy is still not being taken 100% seriously by people. Epilepsy and seizures CAN and DOES kill people. Earlier today I fell down the stairs while having an absence seizure. There are many ways that epilepsy and seizures can kill and people still believe that it is not as serious as cancer and other illnesses. People die in their sleep from seizures. People can suffer brain damage and even death due to status epilepticus. Some people can even die from simply having a seizure at the wrong place/time. This could mean having a seizure while driving or seizing while walking across the street or down a flight of stairs. You could potentially kill an epileptic by using flashing lights. Stop posting flashing videos in the epilepsy tags. Epilepsy is a SERIOUS and DEADLY disorder that needs to stop being taken lightly.

for the past few months i have been having a grand mal seizure every month which is freaking me out because i usually only have them about once a year. my doctor increased my dose of keppra to 1000mg and i have been sleeping well every night but it keeps happening. i am going to ask for a new medication but i was wondering if other people with epilepsy have been having an increased amount of seizures since the pandemic started? i think it could be stress related so i am really interested to know.
