Something I think about a lot is how seriously some people take the “you’re boring” quote in regard to how Louis perceives his relationship with Armand. Louis’ sense of stagnation in the relationship—in my opinion—stems from feeling trapped in his grief and isn’t really about Armand at all (aside from the role Armand had to play in said grief). Also I find it odd when people suggest that this is unique to Loumand, when Louis has a history of growing dispondent in his last relationship too with Lestat, both times he is grieving the life he had, his family and he is grieving Claudia (although his grief of Claudia while with Armand is greater ofc). He is also high when he says it and arguably going through active addiction at the time. As somebody who has dated someone in active addiction, I have been called boring many a time when I didn’t want to join him in his most recent self-destructive spiral. Also both Armand and Louis have an intense curiosity about the world around them, Armand can seem a bit more removed at times but that is because he is more or an observer rather than a doer like Louis, Armand likes to take in information from afar regarding things he’s interested in and Louis likes to participate—however as we have seen—they both love to get caught up in long discussions, their differences in my opinion, balance out nicely. They literally travel the world together, explore together. It’s frustrating when their relationship isn’t given the same grace to be full and complex that the others are awarded. I think also a lot of what we see on screen in the present is them performing their relationship for Daniel which then creates this narrative that their entire relationship is a performance without love but they were together for 77 years, there is a lot of love and care there. Idk these are some 2am thoughts but I think about Loumand a lot
