I love that theres a solidarity and a level of respect between yoosung stans and jumin stans due to how misunderstood both characters are

Within the mysme fandom all the characters are misunderstood to a certain extent but yoosung is reduced down to 'just like rika' jokes and jumin is reduced down to 'red ribbon daddy' which can be very frustrating for us people who really adore the characters

Whenever I criticise Jumins behaviour, jumin stans are always really civil and we can have a good discussion about it because we both understand that our respective characters are extremely misunderstood and everyone has different viewpoints on it

Whereas for example seven stans usually tend to respond more aggressively when his behaviour is criticised due to the fact that seven is widely loved, analysed and seen as the 'true route' of the game and a lot of people tend to mistake complex character for good morality and when your character isn't highly misunderstood criticism can be hard to take and it can be difficult to see it from a different viewpoint or theory

I feel like we should all get along and try to see the game from many different viewpoints (I often forget people don't look into it as deep as I do lol) but jumin and yoosung stans will always remain superior

so what are ur thoughts on Rika then? are you gonna play her DLC or are you gonna play V's? like what are your stance on them? I just wanted to know becuz theres been a lot of drama since Rika's backstory DLC announcement

I’ve had this ask in my inbox for like a day (or two? I have a horrible perception of time) and I hadn’t had the chance to answer it but really wanted to (and made time) since I don’t want you guys getting the wrong idea, also I’m horrible at voicing my thoughts and sometimes I jumble them up so I apologize ahead of time in case some of this stuff doesn’t make sense.

I’ll start by saying that I am indifferent towards both V and Rika, though there were occasions throughout a few routes where I either found myself believing I favored them or disliked them even more and I’ll be honest I often find myself resenting both characters for the pain their actions have caused the characters that I DO LOVE but that doesn’t mean I hate them. I said it once I’ll say it again I’m indifferent towards BOTH.

I’ll follow that up by saying that I don’t think that liking these characters makes you a bad person and I don’t think others should be harassing the people that do like these characters (live and let live jfc) and it’s just like r-f-a-journalists said in one of their posts cheritz has spent a lot of time creating this content for us and people shouldn’t be harassing or bothering them simply because they don’t like the characters they’ve created content for, either don’t play the content and/or blacklist the tags about it or idk what to tell you but there are fans that enjoy these characters and have been looking forward to this kind of content and we shouldn’t be pissing on their parade just because we don’t agree with them about these characters. These characters are fictional thus we don’t hurt them when we shit all over them but we do hurt the people that like them (who are REAL people with REAL feelings unlike the characters) and all we’re going to earn with this shitty behavior is for cheritz to stop creating other type of content for their fans with how pissy some of us get about this at times.

Now, the way I see Rika. I don’t think she deserved the life and childhood she had by the side of her MONSTER OF A FUCKING PARENTS, no child ever deserves to go through what she did and could I jump through realities and rewind time I would have pulled her out of such a HORRIBLE fucking home. When I saw the small tidbit of her back story in V’s Route I legit almost started crying but that DOESN’T excuse her actions in the present of the story and I believe people have to stop defending her by excusing her actions as if she had no clue as to what she was doing because she knew exactly what she intended to do and was doing. People have to stop defending her as if she were innocent of all culpability because of her mental illnesses or because of her backstory because that doesn’t justify her actions at all. Pretending that she’s innocent doesn’t do her character any favors! She’s done bad things and it’s okay to like characters that have done bad things that DOESN’T make the people that like them bad people! (And I think BOTH sides of the fandom have to hear this) And pointing this out/critiquing the character doesn’t degrade or invalidate the character’s significance to the story at all! The truth is that Rika is a very important part of the overall story in Mystic Messenger whether we like it or not and something like her backstory DLC will give us a better insight into her characters, consider it a missing puzzle piece that will give us a better image at the giant puzzle that is Mystic Messenger!

I WILL be playing both Rika and V’s new content NOT because I like them but because it’s going to give me a better image of the story I’ve come to become very emotionally invested in. I urge people NOT to use the new content as a source to either justify Rika’s actions or as fuel to shit on the fans of this character!

I need to breathe for a moment before I launch into this. I'm playing through all the routes to Mystic Messenger again to get the "normal" ends and ofc I'm starting with my cutie Yoosung.... I'm also slowly working through secret 02 ending. So I need to rant for a moment. ****spoilers ahead******* Okay so Rika, we all know Rika is Yoosung's cousin. We all know Rika is a snake. Except Yoosung. Granted I'm not done with secret 02 yet. And I've read a fair enough to know this isn't the only plot hole. But like Yoosung and Zen don't know the whole story. Zen I could care less because it's debatable why he's so involved. I love zen and his route but as a part of the main story he was just someone Rika was a fan of. But Yoosung is family. Rika was adopted sure. But she was family. I think what bothers me most is this obsessive thing Yoosung has with her when he says he only met her around the 6th grade. She "died" the day before his high school graduation. That isn't a huge span of time. And he doesn't want to believe even V when he says Rika fucked up his eyes. Like Yoosung is cheeky and cute and I love him so much but kid, get out of Rika's ass. Jumin should have told Yoosung all the details. That Rika is the reason ultimately that V has died. Rika brainwashed Saeren. Rika started the Mint Eye and led MC to the apartment risking her life. He knew Rika asked for the bomb to be put in and he's like "nooo not my Rika!!!" Like dude you didn't know her that well. I hope in an alternate reality Yoosung gets told about all this fucked up shit the snake did and sends her ass off to Alaska toot sweet. Get out of here. No honestly a really good alternate reality would be Rika not having a mental break and becoming an blabbering toddler but instead going to fucking prison for the shit she did. Or maybe like her jumping in front of V and dying instead of V dying. Like I hate Rika so much and I hate that Yoosung doesn't get to know the truth. The precious little boy deserves to know. Ok I'm gonna go stare at photos of Yoosung now and try to relax. Byeeeeeeeeee.

I just got off a call with V and I'm on the 4th day in the story. He asks me to give him a sign if I'm in danger right so I chose the option that's so extreme "why don't you marry me first V!" And he's like "of this must be a sign!" And then I don't remember what the next option I chose was but then he dismissed it and basically told me that he wished I would stop flirting with him like dude I'm not about to suggest to propose to someone after four days bro I am in DANGER. THEY TRYING TO BRAINWASH AND INDUCT ME INTO YOUR CRAZY EX GIRLFRIENDS CULT V PLEASE SAVE ME. God. Is that too much to ask?

I haven't played Yoosung's route yet, so I imagine there's a LOT to him that I'm not seeing, but from what I've remember of interacting with him in the common route really rubs me wrong. Like babe, c'mon, your parents are paying your way through college and you've basically got a job promised to you after you graduate by one of your friends. I know he's written as being depressed after Rika's passing, and I get that - there are days that I struggle to get out of bed, and days I feel like a liar, that I'm pretending and faking my way through college and that I should just fucking STOP. But he's got opportunities and a support network that a lot of people would KILL for, and he seems to be just goofing around, procrastinating with video games.

The ending is so fucking good!! Love the happy ending more because in there Zen happy but this normal ending 2 is bittersweet ending that make me feel asduihaioucgahisyuhficufhdiuahuajk *incoherrent words* Huhuhuh, this game is reallyy... the first and last otome game I played!!!
