A stack of well-worn Sandersons and ABH gloss to match. ⚜️ I am a so sentimental about these books. I was in a reading slump in college. Work was slow but I had to stay in the office in case anyone called. (Spoiler alert, they didn’t). I googled free books and Warbreaker popped up from Brandon Sanderson’s website. It seemed like a wacky marketing ploy, but I finished the book in two days and immediately bought this paperback and the boxed set of the Mistborn Trilogy. ⚜️ Through his website I also found the Writing Excuses podcast. I hadn’t written in three years. It invigorated me and helped me fall back in love with writing. ⚜️ Later that year I went to my first book signing at @mystgalaxybooks because of Brandon. When I was conflicted about getting my MFA, I talked to Brandon and he encouraged me. I’ve been to almost all of his San Diego signings since and have an MFA in creative writing. ⚜️ Books and authors have the power to change lives. Okay, grad school is really getting in the way of my reading time! I haven’t even started The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton, which is the @mystgalaxybooks YA book club pick for this month.
