Top 5 podcasts (that may or may not permanently traumatize me) 😘
Patchwork Fairytales ❤️. This is genuinely my favourite podcast ever. I used to listen to it in New Zealand when it felt like the whole world was untouchably far away from me and it was so SOFT and so LOVELY and I got to hear YOUR VOICE and 😭 There is literally nothing better in the world when you’re having a shit day than hearing a person you love tell you a story about how everything is gonna be okay in the end (it did also make me feel ridiculously homesick lmao)
The Adventure Zone: Balance. I really spiralled on this one (and dragged everyone else down with me lmao). But yeah, found family, memory hijinks, foreshadowing and genre-fucking are all my absolute favourite things in stories, and the amount of love the McElroys put into their product is incredible
The Magnus Archives. I’ve not fully caught up yet but I just love how it thinks about horror and I adore the entities and the implications of them. Symbols and big concepts on a human scale!! 👌👌👌 love that shit!!
Wolf 359. I love space operas, I loved the idea of screaming into the void and the void screaming back. I loved the twists!!! Wolf 359 had at least 2 plot twists that completely obliterated me. I had my issues with the ending but I loved the concept of Hera and how that played out over the seasons.
Welcome To Nightvale. The OG queer fiction podcast. I used to listen to this while I was backpacking. I kind of abandoned it because I don’t have as much free time anymore and without a plot-driven narrative I wasn’t compelled to listen to the episodes as soon as they came out, but Cecil’s voice is always gonna be calming to me, and make me think about lying around Vondelpark in thesun.
