My latest lyric art project: MYTH by The Narcissist Cookbook

Each character on the album has their own set of ink colors (one each for sky, island, and sea). The beam from the lighthouse was done in glow-in-the-dark paint pen (under the ink). Process video under the cut.

This took probably 8-10hrs in total, over two days. Surprisingly I didn't even get through the whole album (finished in the middle of the library at the very bottom of this place).

I think the second layer of lyrics was definitely the right call (even though it was annoying to do). It added a lot more definition to the shapes and made it feel more finished.

I used nine fountain pens (technically 8 since the Estie never got used), one paint pen, and one dip pen for this project. From left to right:

Colorverse Great Plains (light green) in an Esterbrook Estie -- island, Lighthouses of the British Isles (not used)

Colorverse Massive Storm (dark teal) in a TWSBI Eco -- sea, the Narcissist Cookbook

Private Reserve Blue Suede (brighter teal) in a Jinhao shark -- sea, Victoria Brownley-Plass

De Atramentis Hyacinth (deep blue) in yet another Jinhao shark -- sea, Lighthouses of the British Isles

Ferris Wheel Press Wonderland in Coral (sparkly red-orange) with a Jaques Herbin glass dip pen -- this was for the choirmaster/ananke/i-dont-think-we-get-her-name who shows up a few times (mostly on side 2). I only ended up using it for "but that wasn't the whole story / not quite" right at the end of part 1.

Played a friend Myth in the car today and we proceeded to talk about the albums for more than an hour and relisten to a bunch of sections to pick apart the symbolism and wonderful storytelling!!! (and playing them a bunch of other cool/thematically linked TNC stuff)
