A Guide to Gryphons Pt. 1

A brief introduction: There are several species of Gryphon but I will mainly be referring to the Anglo-Saxon Griffin ,the Opinicus ,and Morph gryphons.Morph gryphons are any combination of feline and avian that is not traditional.

Diet : A gryphons diet should be 55% red meat ,25% dietary supplements (cuttlebone & salt licks ) ,and 35% white meat & fish. Do not feed Gryphon pellets as they are based off of fraudulent research findings. Water should be provided via fountain or spring.

Enrichment:Gryphons require a lot of mental stimulation . So unless you want to say goodbye to your couch, a good reinforced kevlar scratching post is a good idea. Lures,treasure hunts,and puzzles make great enrichment and should be switched up regularly.

Shelter: For Anglo-Saxon gryphons, tall tower roosts work best . Morph gryphons typically prefer caverns with a nest . While Opinicus usually prefer large open nests.

For your fave fictional boi ask: can't decide between Percival Graves(admittedly more a fandom character, much as we love him), Max(Mad Max: Fury Road), and Geralt of Rivia(from the Witcher book series/games, not the asshole the show seems to have turned him into). Have fun XD

SO YOU KNOW I HAVE ... feelings about percival graves. like a lot of them. and lots of HCs. I really love that we all kind of immediately accepted he'd be sarcastic and allergic to feelings and yet also protective of loved ones when we imagined him without GG. and we can assume so much about him from his talent and place in MACUSA!!! frankly he's probably more ruthless than we write him BUT SOFTE IS BETTER. and the FASHION!!! he is the epitome of 'I'm an 11 but continue' meme. truly 11/10 love him forever and always ok ok so I've actually seen mad max about a thousand times but I can't watch it cause of my health stuff so I gotta rate max too. grunty boi, grumpy boi, badass boi. The Trauma™ makes him relatable in some ways and the feralness is just hnnng. but he's 8/10 because he bounced at the end and it made me sad geralt! I have neither played the vgs or read the books, nor have I seen the witcher, but I have seen comparisons between the two. part of me likes asshole characters with a softe side (ok all of me see above two) but also he seems cool in the games SO!!! I rate him ?/10 because I cannot decide lmao no one asked but dandelion/jaskier is 10/10 because, well. because I CHOSE ALL THREE hope you don't mind. thank you for sending me these <33333

when i was making that post about dragons for chain i did some quick research on dragons and dragon-like entities in the americas and like i already knew about quetzalcoatl and the piasa and various other related beings but didn’t know anything about south america and quick research didn’t give me a whole lot to work with which makes sense due to various historical and archaeological reasons

but then today in my class on pre-hispanic visual culture in the andes we looked at a moche style pot that was in the shape of a serpent with a dragonlike head (interpreted as a llama head) and not only that but this creature then popped up again on a mural we were looking at so basically yes there were dragons in south american cultures as well and that’s so fucking cool

some monster ideas

sidhe with solid black eyes and fair skin and hair who do not communicate via human language, play otherworldly music, and live inside beautiful sweeping grassy hills

sphinxes who have various language-based quirks such as speaking in riddles, puns, portmanteaux, rhyming, alliteration, etc.

sirens who live on or near the shore and cause shipwrecks via their voices, seduction, and trickery and then use the ruins of the ships to build their villages and take ownership of the sailors' belongings
