I find myself wondering, occasionally. If you had known, back then, the outcome of your wish, would you still have made it? If someone—be it me, the Universe, the Change God— told you what you would become, that your life, your identity, your friends, would all be torn to shreds faster than you could blink, would you still have gone through? Would you have made your wish? Would you have phrased it different, perhaps? More specific, or a little wordier? Or would you have kept it the same, hoping that maybe, the Universe would have your side this time?

It's easy to say no, that I wouldn't be so foolish, make such a rash, destructive, world altering decision if I were informed of its horrible outcome. That I would be smarter, more rational, if given the chance, or change the wording at the very least.

But I'm not you anymore, and you aren't me. I can not speak for someone else with any semblance of credibility. I no longer know your beliefs, your stance on this all. It happened so long ago, and you are not me.

And so I cannot give an answer to this hypothetical that plagues the space in my mind, and neither can you. I cannot tell whether that's better than the alternative or not, but I suppose it doesn't matter anymore. There's not much from back then that does.
