How many fandoms and years has it been, man?  There’s still a handful of us left, knocking around and moving along and keeping in touch, one way or another, howevermany blogging platforms and chat apps have come and gone along the way.  I’m glad you’re still here <3

I just want to say thank you for defending atheism, and specifically pointing out that The Few Loud Jerks are not any more representative of atheism than they would be in any other group. That post really bothered me and I'm glad to know I'm not alone in that.

I also am very annoyed all the time by 2010-era “amazingatheist”-ish atheists, but it’s extremely reductive and shitty to be treating this entire group of people like we all either

are directly traumatized by Christianity, and our beliefs are Wrong but Allowable, or

are straight white men who think they alone believe in the existence of Science

One of which is condescending as hell, because why should we have to justify our beliefs by spilling our trauma? And the other of which is literally just another fun way to question atheist morality, which has been going on since the dawn of fucking time.

Christians really will not allow a conversation about atheism that goes any deeper than “but religion is still okay, and there’s nothing wrong with believing in god”. Because they think we are oppressing them.

I had a girl very seriously tell me she’s a minority because she’s Christian, and subsequently complain to our also-Christian supervisors about how I was singlehandedly oppressing her.

Come onto tungle.hell and folks are just recycling the old “atheists are sinners with no concept of morality and they’re all inherently evil” rhetoric, but now it’s “white men escaping consequences”, and it’s only (just barely) okay to be an atheist if you, personally, have been brutally victimized by Christianity.

What about those of us who were raised that way? What about people who just choose atheism? Not to mention how this often ignores Jewish atheists as well.

I don’t think I should have to re-explain that I’m not an evil Christian-hater every time I mention that I’m an atheist. I don’t think I should have to argue a presumed “lack of morality” by explaining why I choose to do the right thing ~anyway.~

It sucks! and we should be able to talk about what we believe without people automatically questioning our moral character.

ahhhh I thought it was a bit too good but I WANTED it to be real 

she is super rad, I’ve been enjoying seeing her on platforms speaking out against the terrible shit people put her and others through. As she’s had a ‘renaissance’ of people interviewing her and being a bit more high-profile, it is also completely freaking me out realizing how goddamn young she was. Since I was so little when it all went down she seemed so old, and now I’m like ‘holy shit she was SO FUCKIN YOUNG’
