‘Trick or Treat! 🎃!
“This is another candy, father?” N had stopped pushing the train, the passenger Zorua curled tight now that there was another man in the room.
That’s what many humans did to Pokémon. They scared them, used them as tools, and forced them to do things they didn’t want. So when Zorua curled up to hide, N stopped pushing the train. That was all there was to it.
If he did things the Pokemon didn’t want to, then he’d be just like the bad humans. Father, or, Sage Ghetsis, told him that he could change that. That if he kept believing what was right, he could cause both Humans and Pokemon to understand the ways of Team Plasma.
The towering castle rose above him, red glint in the man’s eye as he placed in the boy’s hand a brown square, one that he could easily pop into his mouth. And in that moment, Ghetsis’s corner of the mouth raised, just a microscopic amount. But the green-haired youth knew what that was. It couldn’t possibly be a sneer, like his dictionary said: it had to be his father’s version of a smile.
“That’s right.”
His voice, chilling to the spine, comforted N. It gave him life. It was his father. He loved Ghetsis.
“...But you can’t have it.”
The boy tilted his head at that, frowning. “Why? I like candy.”
“Because of your Pokemon.”
Zorua shivered at that. N put his fingers in front of its snout, so he could get its permission before petting it on the head.
“Your Pokemon like candy. Do you selfishly eat it in front of them? Or do you share it?”
N had thought of that before. All of his meals were prepared for him, which his big sisters Anthea and Concordia helped with, or so he heard. But they always sweetly reminded him not to waste food, and they were making sure that his friends were fed; and his friends whispered that they were indeed getting fed by his sisters, so he believed them. Lies, they did not speak. Lies didn’t exist in this home.
Ghetsis rarely visited N, so the youth was always happy to see him when he did come. He always taught him a valuable lesson, which his big sisters always agreed with, even with an occasionally strained face (Why did they make those faces?)
“You share it. But it’s so tiny, fa-.”
Father picked up the chocolate with his fingers, and then crushed it, the blood, caramel, oozing from it.
“Exactly. So you wait, and remember what Pokemon did for you. They suffer. Don’t make them, nor you, suffer more. Hold on to that ideal, and you will become the truthful king of Team Plasma.”
A world without suffering… What an ideal world. N would make it the world all could accept.
What a wonderful lesson. He smiled as the warm caramel dripped onto the floor, with distant eyes.
…
“Here you are, Gengar. I see you followed me for sweets.” The Pokemon Trainer gave a smile, stretching out a bag of chocolate for the Ghost-Type Pokemon.
“But, could you listen to me, before you take them?” He paused, listening to the Pokemon’s words.
“Oh, I know, they’re very delicious. But that’s why I’d like for you to share them with your friends and family. They do a lot for you… It’s so improbable that everyone meets each other, but it can feel like fate that it did. We have great and hard times trying to get to our own futures. But they made time for you, too. And you all work together as a team. Remember that. That’s why I’d appreciate it if you would share it. It would make them happy.
...Don’t worry, I won’t get upset, even if you do eat most of the chocolates. But do try to share them... Tell Morty I said, “See you again.” Bye, Gengar.”
it literally takes breath away...
