the clicking of the flashlights felt even more intense this time around.
she was sure it was all because of her. sure, press conferences were something she needed to be used too but this felt like an even bigger deal. she was the lead in the film and they’d want to hear from her. all rina could do was give her co-star a smile and turn to let the camera capture photos of them.
there was a little mix of everything, a few normal poses. then they had them do a few more fun leaning ones until they were allowed to sit.
that didn’t stop the flashing of camera’s but it slowed down a bit at least.
it was now that she had to force herself to work a little harder. to stay out of her head and pay a little more attention. and she was grateful when her senior’s took at the lead at first. sure, she was the lead on the film but but she was the youngest in experience. aside from introducing herself to the host, she hadn’t said much of anything.
but rina was sure to react, nodding her head and showing that she was paying attention at least. finally, some questions started to circle back to her and rina did her best to answer. luckily, she had a few things practiced, some questions that would be asked and how she could answer them.
most were about her role and those were the easier ones. it was something she had talked about over and over so this wasn’t much of a shocker. by now, she had crafted a some well selected answers. there was a bit of shyness when it came to answering the questions about her co-stars.
it helped that they only gave her encouraging smiles. a few questions about wish and her members had been slipped in and she did her best to deflect those. she wanted the focus to be on her acting, it was like balancing in two different worlds.
and right now, she wanted her world focused on acting.
as the press conference neared it’s end, rina felt the tension leave her shoulders. nothing extreme had happened, it seemed to go over well with the reporters and she was sure the public response would be somewhat nice at least.
for now, she was just happy she managed without failing. and maybe there was a chance she managed to win the public over, if she was lucky.
it was hard picking out ten things she couldn't live without.
she didn't really think about it. once she had heard the title, it was a struggle to think of ten things. it was even more of a struggle to think about ten things that wouldn't be too common. she was sure she could pick a few but it would be the same as everyone else. not that anyone would be that unique but there wasn't a way to make it fun. it took a lot of thinking, a lot of accepting that her video wouldn't be interesting but she managed to figure out a few things.
"are you ready?" a staff member asked, after tapping her on the shoulder. rina quickly nodded her head and followed the staff to the set. there was a table and chair ready, she had been told a few things and with that, they were ready to move onto recording. soon rina found herself moving to sit in front of the camera.
"hello! this is wish's rina! and today i'll be telling you about ten things i can't live without." she gave a small pause and then quickly moved on, she wanted to keep the ball rolling.
"the first thing is this very silly, travel pillow." the items she had brought with here had been placed on the floor by her feet and rina reached down to grab it, setting it on the table. "it's a simple one, it just goes around your neck and it's a boring black color but when i was younger, we moved from korea to the us and it was with me on the flight. i used it when i moved back and every time i fly, i take it with me. i consider it a good luck charm for the plane." waving it for a second, rina placed it back down and picked up the second item.
"this is a little more common but earbuds, it doesn't matter how i'm listening to music. i just want to listen too it. it can be freeing right? when you just want to let go and focus on nothing. i need music around me to do that." the next item, it wasn't something she brought with her but they told her that they would add the photos. quickly, she put the earbuds away. "for number three...i'd have to the combination of apples and peanut butter, sometimes i'll actually peanuts but i enjoy the taste. it's my favorite snack but i never get tired of it. so if i ever get lost on an island, if i had those two things...i could hold out for a while."
"for number four, all of my friends and our fans know but my plants. i have a lot of them and i even made a plant room sort of with a bunch of different plants. i take care of them well and i give them a lot of love. i don't even consider them my pets, i think of them as my little kids that i'm growing and raising well."
her next item would also show up on screen, a picture of it at least and rina just pointed up. "next would be my sleep-mask, sometimes i do use night-light's if i find a really pretty one...that being said, i like to sleep in darkness most of the time. and not just with the light out, i like it to be fully dark. if i don't have that then i don't rest well most of the time."
thing's were rolling smoothly and rina reached down to grab another item, this time her planner. she flipped through it a bit, letting it show things that fans knew about or were harmless. "this is my planner, it has everything related to me...from wish schedule's to my own solo activities, things to do around the house. it has everything planned out and i do pretty well with keeping up with it." there was a quick switch out, her planner for an old drama script. "the next item's would be drama or drama's, from old scripts i have or just watching it on tv, it's a big part of my life." and she could talk about it more but there was a fine line and right now, she was wish's rina. when she put the script down, rina raised her hands again. this time it would be another picture that they would have to edit in.
"this is my dream board, it has my goals and dreams. everything i want to do in life. i often add and take away as i grow and things change in my life." quickly, she reached down and picked up another item. "this is a photobook, i've only captured the really big moments...the things i want to remember forever. i tend to add to it at the end of year for a slight reflection as i pick which photos." it was an entire process and her photobook was fairly big by now. putting that away, she was ready to say her last item and wrap up.
"the last item isn't really an item but a group of people and that would be my members. i really couldn't do it along, i don't think i'd be able to make it has solo artist or be by myself in the industry, i lean on them a lot." that was a given, what would she do without the wish members? it wouldn't work for her. "alright! i've told you ten things i can't live without!"
rina gave a bright smile that lingered for a bit before she got the alright to break her pose. there was a small bit of chatting with the staff, bowing as she made her way to her dressing room to get her things.
soon enough, she'd be walking out of the doors and find herself free for the day.
they might have had songs that leaned this way but it was a felt like a hard turn from more and more. hopefully, the fans liked it enough. that wasn't her main concern though, when looking over the lyrics, rina realized she was sprinkled throughout more of the song than she realized. there had been a trend recently, almost as much as more and more but she still considered that a little less. in more and more, her main part was the rap, other than it as just those two words repeated over and over. in this one, it'd be all singing and very little rap on her part.
just hopped she could give them what they needed in the studio.
one of the biggest worries were recording, trying to get everything perfect and edged out. rina gave a sort of half-smile towards her member walking out of the studio. they had gotten some tracks out of the way but now, it was time to lay down her lines for their title. they talked a bit about the song, what they needed from her and then she was in the booth, adjusting the her headphones. if there was one thing she could say, all of her lines were pretty sure or just a word. (for a moment, she wondered what it would look like on stage, if the camera would dart towards her or if it wasn't that important.)
they worked on the words first. having her find different ways to say to the simple word 'rose'. sometimes it was cute, sometimes it was with a little bit. it just amazed her how much time could be spent on his one word. after a short break (could it even be called a break?) they went back to finish up. this also took a little longer, now they had focus on full sentences. they wanted something a little more light from her, a bit more romantic compared more of their straight up bright tracks.
it took another hour or two before the producers were finally happy with her work. and if she had so little to do in the song, she wondered how hard it would be for the others, simply happy it wasn't her. still, it was nice to do something new and she wondered how the fans would take this. they we're becoming more mature but there was a touch of serious the other singles didn't have.
before the live started, rina already thought about which questions she would get. hopefully, no hard ones or ones that hit close to home. but it couldn't be all boring right? either way, she settled on trying to make her live look comfortable and down to earth.
relatable right? that was the wish image right?
but her thoughts didn't linger on it for too long. instead, she moved onto officially open the live. once it was started, she waited for a minute to let the people fill in before she finally spoke. "hello, this is wish's rina and today, i'll be doing an advice v-live. so, please tell me your worries and i'll do my best to help you out." she didn't have all of the answer's and some could be wrong. with that, rina found herself scanning the chat, looking for something. "ah...this is a good one 'how do i convince my parents to let me follow my dreams?' this is a good question, often our parents want us to focus on what's right in front of us and create a good path. i'd say, don't give up on your dream but show your parents you have something to fall back on, or look into things related to your dream. if you want them to support you, you should show them that there is something to support." it had been a bit different for her.
"next...this question is about dieting." something she knew all too well with when it came to being an idol but she didn't want to teach her fans what the industry taught her. "first, i'd recommend that you go to the doctor and get a full check, you should talk to them about what you need to work on and the best course. don't strain yourself by trying to just not eat anything, make a meal plan around what you eat, you can add some of your favorite foods but all you have to do find something that works for you and you're body, don't go to any extreme." normal people weren't idols, they didn't need to look like idols.
idols didn't need to look like idols.
"the next question...let's see...oh! well it's brave of you for telling everyone but how can i help? when it comes to studying...not everyone learns the same. if you're in the lower half, first look at yourself and ask if you're really applying yourself. then, if you're doing that, talk to your teacher or parents about finding new ways to learn. sometimes we need things explained differently but try not to compare yourself to others. everyone has their own pace and you only hurt yourself if you try to push beyond your means...it can get you down mentally." she had done that to herself more times than she wanted to remember. a few more questions came in rina did her best. by the end of it, she hopped that someone was able to be helped by her advice.
a long day, an extremely long day and she knew it.
the first place they arrived had been the studio and there wasn't much time for chatting she realized. it was still the early hours of the morning and they needed to be record. they had to travel to a different location after this.
one she had one focus, to get the filming done.
at least this location only had one outfit and once it was finished, she was free to roam around until it was time to shoot her solo scenes. for now, she focused on drifting near a horse they had on set. it was a like a game of cat and mouse until she finally had the nerve to walk out and pet the horse for a bit.
( and she was sad to find out that they wouldn't really be filming with the horse. )
there were a bunch of ng's but she tried to keep hers to a minimum. one never knew how they would put the music video together but she hated getting ng's. if only because they wouldn't be used that much. the biggest problem had been recording with her other member. she was an actress right? well she needed to act like she was interested in the beads in front of her. finally, the filming had been achieved and she was left to her own devices. walking around the set and talking to the camera a bit before they moved onto the group shots.
that bit happened in a blur.
in fact, everything was a blur until they made it to the next filming location. this helped wake her up a little bit, by now it was bright and early outside and very, very windy. at the very least, she had been given a towel to wrap around her once she finished getting dressed. once again interacting with the camera and slightly dozing off until she was pulled to film her first shots with her members. walking through some sort of tunnel with a slight expression of awe on her face. ( or at least she thought she had a face of awe, whatever it was, it seemed to work. )
then, in between the time they waited night to settle on them, nari found herself sleeping a little more. waking up only when her manager told her it was time to film the final portion of the music video. there was even more wind but she assumed it added to the effect. ( honestly, the only thing she really worried about somehow stumbling off the platform they were on and falling into the sea, thankfully, it didn't happen. )
the final thank you's were given and nari left out another yawn, this time sleep would really mean sleep.
kami was a bit impressed with the company. (and she could admit it was the fact that they supported her solo career that made her feel that way.) but it seemed like gal.actic had work to this month and that wasn't a bad thing. yeah, they'd never be a top girl group but they got comebacks at least? if she didn't have her solo career, she'd be way more worried about things but as it stood, being in gal.actic worked and being a solo artist worked.
it wouldn't stop her from doing her best at both.
the figaro shoot was fun and cute but she much more leaned towards the dazed and confused one. it was also far more simple than she expected it too be. when they arrived, kami had no idea what the shoot would about and she didn't have to think about it for long. a simple black and white photoshoot, nothing too big.
she was guided into hair and make up, making small talk with the stylist while listening to the buzz of chatter around her. and then she was taken to get changed before she had to wait for her turn in front of the camera. when it came, took the chance to not focus on the blinding lights, letting the staff do touch-ups before the clicks of the camera's started.
at first, she did a few of her own poses before she let the photographer's word's guide her. they knew what they wanted it was just her job to give it. there was no need to over think, if she was wrong then she would be corrected and it wasn't something she would complain about. not when they had the other member's to get through, if it was her own work then she would speak up if she wanted.
finally they finished and she was ushered off again for another outfit change. her makeup hadn't been changed aside from touch-up's and her style had taken a slight change. she had time to wait after that, sitting down and watching the people around her. after a bit of time, someone called her over and the group shot's started. this was always the hardest part, one person could look good and the other not so good. one pose covered up a member or wanting to change the order of them. it was the most tedious part of the shoot and kami was happy once it was over.
now she could only help that this had some impact. maybe it would've been better to do the shoot closer to their comeback.
yeah, she wasn't a huge fan of it. it didn't help that they had a real break. ( sort of a break, she still had her own side projects. ) but it was a good way for her to forget the stage and soon enough, they'd be back on it. awards were like huge concerts for her. just on stage, with thousands of eyes watching for a mistake. and the millions of eyes that were on them if it was being live streamed.
but she didn't have to worry about that just yet.
instead, she had to focus on the flurry that was called backstage. there was a lot of it, there was always a lot of it. too many groups, dance covers, duo's and the like. there was always so much that went on that she had stayed in their dressing room. even if she had to use the bathroom, she tried not to move. but what she really hated ( second to the stage at least ) was what she found herself doing right now. it wasn't their turn to perform yet but they were allowed to watch it.
instead, they were seating in the audience. and when it came to watching, this was almost second to none. from the camera's that were shoved in their face for a reaction. fans who would record them and put it up later. which was why she was the one that didn't give much reactions when watching other performances. everything was uploaded and rina hated the thought of it. it was always a relief when they were called backstage but it didn't last for long.
it was time to perform.
if there was one thing, it was a good way to get practice. award season was in full force which mean that they were going to be doing more of this. even if she wasn't on board with the idea. ( wish always won something, so couldn't they send in a video message or something? ) all of this was what she had tried to focus on when it came to being on stage. think of it as if she was in the practice room, just her and her members and she was able to focus a little better. it always made her wonder why they gave her big rap parts, rina didn't mind if her parts were small, it made it easier to blend into the background.
at least the performance was over, now she just had to wait in the audience and prepare herself for any awards they might get, she'd be on stage again.
even once the interview finished. ( with time to spare as well, then the car was just filled with mindless chatting. ) chatting she enjoyed for the most part, seeing as this was something she wanted to do. with that her mind turned towards her 'older sibling' for the show. she knew miyeon from cross-promoting but she wondered if miyeon had any real interest in her.
if not, then she would create it.
( she hopped. )
a gentle nudged told her they arrived and rina was quick to get out of the car and grab her things. would miyeon be in there when she arrived? had she always been there and would she becoming back or maybe shock her once she arrived? she wasn't sure but rina was ready for whatever was about to happen.
she pushed the door open slowly, peaking her head inside and fully stepping in when she saw no one. and the place did look good, in a different way. it wasn't like her own place but it did look like the show put effort into where they staying.
now she could explore. ( forgetting for a moment, her 'older sibling' )
past the living room and right into the kitchen, it looked like they had stocked it alright but rina added in a few more things. some snacks, some ramnen and some of bottles of one of her favorite drinks. once that was finished, she continued on, taking everything in. they only had to spend a day together ( so far ) but she was pretty ready for whatever happened. then something caught her eye. a list of things they had to do while in the room and most of it seemed fun. ( she would enjoy eating and cooking food but she wouldn't enjoy going through her time as an idol. she also wondered if this was the type of show to touch on the problems she had on stage. )
then she shook the thought away, it'd only invite more problems.
now, only two rooms left. one had been the bathroom. a space rina didn't waste time putting her personal touch on. her tooth-brush, wash-cloth and what she needed for the bath. ( and she didn't bring much, now sure how much she would really need to use. ) and lastly, the bed-room. "i wonder if we'll have to share a bed but that's not much of a problem." she lived with eight other girls.
