[ Commander Shepard is my inspiration and my heart. She allowed me to be brave.]
[ ME has changed how I think about my life. I loved how human all the characters were to me. I was lost in who I was and Shepard showed me we all have a place in this world. But to tell my favorite moment. Tali in ME2 lost her dad during a mission. She cries. To hear her cry I cried with her. It was close to home with me I understood her pain. My dad isn’t dead but we don’t see each other. I loved my dad a lot. That is why I love this series. The humanity of the characters are relateable.]
[One of the things that irrevocably changed me while playing Mass Effect was ME2 Overlord project. To see how far science without the boundaries of conscience can go, to see a helpless innocent suffer for someone else’s ‘progress’, suffer without understanding… That cut me deep and reminded me why I wanted to be a scientist in the first place. It also made me vehemently adverse to the synthesis ending]
[Caption: I related pretty hard to the moments in ME3 when Shepard wakes up after those nightmares with the kid. After my dad died, he kinda lived on in my dreams, and it did not help the mourning process. I guess it was nice to see I wasn’t the only one with a subconscious that didn’t want to let go.]
[Caption: After finishing the game I realized that I was Shepard and that all the mistakes I make and terrible things that happen to me will eventually cumulate in me becoming a stronger, better person who has the power to command in her voice and the strength of an army in her eyes. Life became easier understanding that I have power within myself and it was Shepard that taught me that]
[Caption: Mordin Solus has always been my favorite character in the Mass Effect series, and (spoiler alert) when I played through his final scene in ME3 I was in tears because what he had done by putting the needs of many before the needs of the few reminded me so much of what I’ve tried to do for so many people in the past, and seeing my fave pull off the ultimate sacrifice to ensure stability on a galactic scale really stuck with me. So hats off to you, BioWare, for making one of the most interesting and heartfelt characters in one of your best series. “Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong” has also become my go-to inspiration quote. Thanks, guys. ]
[Caption: It was never really a single moment for me Truly, the entire arc was inspiring. I played a custom FemShep who I made to be a bit rough looking (very short hair, facial scars, etc). But the fact that almost no one questioned her gender, and the few times they did I got to insult them back. And coupled with a romance- My Shepard was anything but conventionally attractive and yet to know she found not one, but at least three good friends who truly thought she was inspiring and beautiful… It gives me hope. One day every woman could be surrounded by peers who admire her for something other than appearance. One day women can be that gruff action hero with an alien guy draped over her arm like a 50s sci-fi poster ]
[Caption: When I’m angry I ask myself, ‘What Would Paragon Do?’. Usually it’s the right answer. The merciful, understanding, and patient. On the other hand, there’s always Renegade to remind me never to tolerate any disrespect and to make my point clear.]
