CLOSED STARTER for @n8-shaw WHEN: Whenever Nate returns after his time in the hospital LOCATION: Nate and Avery’s Dorm, #207 in Alcott
Avery was largely dead after Casino Night. She wasn’t any better the next morning, feeling sluggish and gross despite all the sleep she had. She only dragged herself out of bed when the need to pee became too much. It was on her way back from the toilet that she first decided to check on Nate, see if he was home. She knocked twice. When there was no answer, she called out his name. When that didn’t work, she twisted the knob and peered into his room, a bit on edge until she saw he wasn’t there at all which explained the silence. She sighed and shook her head, figuring Nate had gone home with someone last night and that’s why he was nowhere to be found. But then the day went on, you know? Avery eventually showered, and Nate still wasn’t back. Then she went to go and get food, ate and talked to some people, returned and Nate still wasn’t home. She texted him then, a silly her pussy must be out of this world because there was no other explanation for Nate’s absence. It was when the sun went down and it was no longer light out that Avery finally acknowledged the concern niggling at the back of her head. Nate hadn’t rocked up to their dorm yet. Nor had he replied to her text. Where was he?
Her roommate was decorated with bruises and butterfly bandages when he finally stepped through the door of their dorm. Nearly two days after Casino Night. You could imagine how much Avery’s anxiety had bubbled during that time. She refrained from contacting him beyond that first text, knowing he was a grown man who didn’t need her concern. From the looks of it, she wasn’t wrong to have some though. The sight of Nate’s injuries pushed Avery up to her feet, at once forgetting the person she was in the midst of typing a reply to on her phone. “Nate, what the hell happened to you?” She asked, pocketing her device, voice heavy with concern as she approached him.
