You know what

I’m gonna talk about Astalor Bloodsworn because he has been living rent free in my brain since I’ve reached level 90.

Can we just give an applaud to whomever came up with the prey and anguish hunts, and how it’s almost the last bit of grittiness of old wow being referenced through this sadist?? For anyone who didn’t know, we first met Astalor in TBC and he was a loyalist to Kael’thas who turned away and aided in the founding of the Blood Knights. This is the same man that while he did one noble thing, we still need to remember that he’s always been a morally grey character that toed the line of good and bad CONSTANTLY.

He aided in his people’s redemption, HOWEVER he still was involved with the torture of the Na’aru, Mu’ru at the HAND of the blood knights. Converting the Light into energy that the elves could FEED off of!

We THEN saw this guy in MoP when he was poking around with the Mogu constructs and still very fascinated in chasing ulterior powers that existed to feed his goals. While the Sunwell was still restored, his quote; ‘the Sunwell will soon be obsolete’ in Midnight eludes to MUCH.

It could be that he’s never believed The Light to be a source worthy enough to sustain, or maybe he simply believes that power is power and it doesn’t matter where it comes from.

I was watching Bellular’s take on his character and I have to agree, if Astalor somehow gets more power- he’s either gonna get turned into a dungeon boss or a throwaway kill.

Like come ON

The idea of TORTURE chambers underneath Silvermoon, powering the ENTIRE city with anguish energy is an idea that really reflects the old stories in early WoW and I’d be so DOWN for it. It would be something of Naxxaramus severity, I can imagine a raid where you’re haunted by these occasional screams (like Thaddeus’ voice lines that echo in the raid) and it’s sucks that it’s probably never gonna be a thing.

Astalor is one of the last true blood elves in the game and I will stand by this statement when we compare to the Marvel-esque (Disney not the comics) storylines that keep happening. If I hear one more important lore character rant about the importance of family, I’m gonna start making WoW posters with the damn Fast&Furious font. IM LOOKING AT YOU ARATOR.

The current elves of this game are being-in a way, spayed and neutered constantly, and I’m so sick and tired of it. I have another rant incoming about Thalyssra and Lor’thremar but that’s for later.

With the Sunwell/Darkwell/ForbiddenSoup being gone, I feel like Astalor could have potential to become more relevant and have a very strong backing of other elves and magisters included. Shandris being like ‘it’s time to consider going to rehab’ isn’t gonna go down very well indefinitely so it’s not a terrible assumption to guess that our babygirl Astalor Bloodsworn is plotting.

In this village you can find a marketplace (functional selling table) with blacksmiths, an underwater garden, boat and hot springs.
