okay so to your other blog, you recently were posting about horror, anatomy or anything related writing to the likes of it (you're also reading the haunting of the hill house so it does get mentioned in this video; mild spoilers are present i think?) and i thought i'd share this video: Control, Anatomy, and the Legacy of the Haunted House by Jacob Geller with you.
what he does is to show how houses are bodies, they are living things with some anatomy and how they tend to be haunted and why they considered that way in the first place. he primarily talks about video games so here takes different games that embody this concept and talks about it at length (it's been a while since i watched it so im not entirely sure i remember all things properly) but i thought you'd like to watch it!
cw for eye strain, static noises and mention of diseases and trauma, and maybe some (?) claustrophobia of being trapped in an empty space
"some houses just reject humanity"... "houses that become haunted because they're abandoned"... houses as bodies... houses being haunted by us because we try to force humanity onto them and bend them to our will... this was really interesting to watch thank you so much!!! I've recently been on the lookout for media that deals with hostile buildings and themes of places as characters so this was especially interesting to watch.
ANYWAY if anyone's interested in getting in to media that has to do with places that are/seem to be sentient and/or hate you I'd also recommend i am in eskew (podcast), mabel (podcast), annihilation (novella), piranesi (novel), the magnus archives (podcast - a couple episodes deal with spatial horror) and NaissanceE (game) 👀
