Our Barrio Writers zine-making workshop at NACCS made me realize something universal, but especially unique to communities of color and marginalized peoples. In particular, the Tejas Chican@ & Chicanx Studies Conference gave me one huge take away: If you’re there for the community, you’re doing it right.

Especially in a room with incredibly ambitious students & renowned scholars, community educators, and writers, we all have to make sure each step we take is a step forward for everyone.

Bay Area Friends

I'll be in San Francisco until Sunday .. At the National Association of Chicano Studies Conference. If any of you want to meet up say hi, become bffs, let's ;) Also I'll be presenting on identity formation in Huntington Park, specifically talking about the World Cup celebrations on La Pacific and the militarization of the police force to control the crowds. If you're in the area and want to hear me drop some South East LA truth bombs I'll be presenting Thursday at 10:00am Hilton hotel (I don't know the room yet).
