              " Quickly now, or we'll be seen. "

He quickens his pace, a still-warm kill swinging precariously on a string slung over the dwarf's shoulder. It's hardly a straight shot to their target of choice, but not so far as they won't be able to make it.

But they're simply returning from their hunting trip with an adequately modest haul and have no plans to do anything that would be particularly devious, of course. There's no reason why they should be stopped and no reason why anyone should be any the wiser come the end of their second haul.

It'd come quick enough, with dark clouds in the distance and grumbled mumblings from Oin that it wasn't a good sign; it's not long after that they were forced off the road. The wind and the thunder already startling their ponies well enough, they can hardly get their ponies more than ten paces without halting. 

It's only with Thorin's reluctant word that there was no use continuing on in such weather that the company scrambles under cover. There's a half-hearted attempt to make a fire in the very beginning -- useless, considering it's near impossible in the downpour and wind -- before everyone agrees to give up and disband into their respective groups amongst the camp. 

                                    -- Not that a fire would do much good anyway. 

Fili doubts a roaring fire could do much to get of the chill in his bones that grew every time it flashed a little too bright or the sky rumbled a little too loudly. He sees Thorin relax a little, presumably deeming their campsite safe enough, and Fili takes that as a sign to give his brother a nudge (as if much could be heard over the howling of the wind). There's a spot to the west he saw that's surely good enough to watch the road for anyone just up ahead, and he's already heading towards it before Kili responds.

                   ---- It's earlier than he'd expected, all things considered. Fili can tell by the look of the opposite wall he's facing well enough; the way the light hits it and streams in where he forgot to shut it out earlier. He thinks about shutting it now, for good measure at least, but he's already awake and there's little that can be done to hush him back into sleep so easily. So he just lays for a while, flopping an arm above his head and absent-mindedly fiddling with a bit of loose hair. 

It's only when his restlessness slowly begins to eat away at his withering desire to stay warm and mostly comfortable that he scrunches the bit of loose hair down. Fili takes one last little breath before sitting up, automatically turning and looking to Kili. There's a brief second where he simply waits before he grabs his pillow, and chucks it right at his little brother's face in one swift motion.

                   It's in everyone's best interest, of course.
