An outline of Nadia’s appearances throughout the books ^^

Explanation under cut:

Pre-Heartbreak: Fresh faced off the Farm, Nadia didn’t alter much of her appearance after she escaped. Her hair was short to hide under the Sidestep hood and mask, and most of her scrapes and cuts were from missions.

Book 1: in Rebirth, the events of Heartbreak left a fresh new truckload of trauma in her, and it shows on her face. She had become tired, fatigued, and the lack of sleep did not help her much either. Sure, she was gaining recognition as the hot new villain in town, made enemies of her past allies, and avoided the ones close to her as much as she could, but is it worth the growing pit of hollowness that built in her?

Book 2: Fame grew quickly after the memorable attack at the Ranger’s museum, perfectly executed of course, because she was perfect. The more she grew comfortable into being Obscura, the more she distanced herself from her own identity, starting with dyed hair which quickly grew into adding extensions and bangs, hiding as much of her face to herself as possible. She had also grown quite dependent on her puppets, slipping every opportunity she could with reckless possession. But no matter what she did, she could not cover or hide the obnoxious orange barcode and tattoos on her.

Book 3: After her hospital escape, Nadia once again faced with her identity crisis. With no more aim or motivation of carry on anymore, she has begun to get more impulsive, shaving the side of her head off in a fit and eventually turning it into a sidecut dyed jet black. Something keeps making her take one step down her spiral ladder, but she doesn’t know what.

She's good with tech (machines dont give you headaches like people do) bad at direct combat and prefers to be a tactician and good at redirecting! Her fighting combo with Charge as Sidestep was pretty much that: setting up the battlefield for Charge to deal the most damage.

After Heartbreak, a lot changed. I'm keeping it under spoilers because spoilers lol, and it kind of gets heavy (tw for s*icidal mention)

Her restoration after Heartbreak pretty much broke her down, she failed to make a difference as a hero, failed to run away from the Farm, so she turned into being a villain to maybe get a good life for herself.

Even after Ortega finds her and they learn she's alive, a part of her never trusted them as she did before, keeping everyone from arm's length.

She enjoyed murdering people, but prefers to pick and choose her targets for maximum satisfaction.
