At some point during Taka and Mondo's Chapter 2 endurance contest, Chaperone Nagito makes his presence known a few steps behind Makoto. (Just a quiet laugh or audible shoe squeak.)

Makoto, startled, asks, "What are you doing here?"

"Watching," Nagito replies, with a coy smile. (Ever since the first trial, he's had an interest in Makoto that he has trouble squaring with a lot of his beliefs.) "Hey...they're both pretty vulnerable in there, you know."

"What?"

"I'm just saying, the game's stagnating, and it wouldn't take much."

"No! I'm not...! What do you mean stagnating? It hasn't even been a week since...since the trial."

"You don't think the mastermind is probably bored by now?"

"I'm not just going to kill someone to entertain the mastermind! They can be bored all they want."

Nagito shrugs. "If you say so." He says that, but the way he lingers nearby, it's like he's also saying, My suggestion still stands.

Makoto shivers and tries to ignore him.

When the nighttime announcement rings, Makoto tells the guys that he has to go, and they say it's fine. Then he looks back at where Nagito is still watching expectantly, and he adds:

"Actually guys, Nagito's out here, and I think he might try to get someone to kill you while you're vulnerable? He was saying weird stuff to me earlier, and if someone attacks you while you're like this, or even just locks you in-"

The revelation that Nagito is parked in the bathhouse like a vulture gets Taka and Mondo to both leave the sauna. Once they're out, Nagito plays up the fact that he was trying to tempt Makoto to kill them and Makoto wouldn't bite.

(Because his objective all along was to stop Taka and Mondo from getting close, because he remembers that when they first went to Hope's Peak, an endurance contest of a similar kind eventually led to them dating, and he wants Makoto to be the one dating one, either, or both of them. Because he hasn't processed his own feelings for Makoto as such yet, so instead he's shipping him with Ultimates, in a tee-hee "Oh, I'm really sinning now!" kind of way.)

not exactly one i have thought of (or seen) before, but as a rarepair defender, i see it and kinda like it! 6.8/10.
