Genie in a Bottle (Illuminating Nail Tone Perfector) - Deborah Lippmann
I had a really important meeting, so I decided to ditch my colorful polish for something that wouldn’t draw attention. I saw an e-mail about this new “Genie in a Bottle” polish from Deborah Lippmann - it’s supposed to brighten up yellow-stained nails (the way that purple pigments in dye can cancel out brassy tones in hair)!
My nails aren’t super stained, but they do have a yellow-tinge to them from 2+ years of having them constantly covered with nail polish (even with lots of base coat), especially when comparing them against something that’s actually white.
The first pic is of my bare nails. The last one with the bottle is with 2 coats. Sometimes it looks nice when my nails hit the light. Other times it just looks the same but now with some purple shimmer on top of my yellow-tinged nails. I didn’t expect the staining to disappear or anything, but still, this polish didn’t really seem to do a whole lot. Maybe other people have had better results, but for me, I couldn’t take it after a couple days and opted for a more business-appropriate nude-pink manicure instead. It’s a cool concept, but it wasn’t worth $20.
Maybe this would work better on people with less stained nails!
