Ex-NSA Chief Paul Nakasone Has a Warning for the Tech World
The Trump administration’s radical modifications to United States fiscal coverage, international relations, and international technique—mixed with mass firings throughout the federal authorities—have created uncertainty round US cybersecurity priorities that was on show this week at two of the nation’s most distinguished digital safety conferences in Las Vegas. “We’re not retreating, we’re…
Sun Myung Moon, the late founder of the Unification Church, said in a sermon in 2005 that hundreds of households of the religious group's members help
"More than 300 households of Unification Church members participated in the election" to get Nakasone elected, Moon said during the address. The comments were confirmed following the Mainichi Shimbun's translation of Moon's Korean-language sermon records.
Nakasone, 77, a House of Councillors member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), is the eldest son of the late Yasuhiro Nakasone, who served as prime minister of Japan between 1982 and 1987. Hirofumi was first elected to the upper house in 1986, when his father was still in office as prime minister, and is currently in his seventh term, chairing the upper chamber's Commission on the Constitution.
In the 615 volumes of sermon records, Yasuhiro Nakasone was mentioned most frequently among past Japanese prime ministers, as earlier reported by the Mainichi Shimbun. The latest discovery points to the possibility that the Unification Church, now formally known as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, had connections with the Nakasone family over two generations.
In the 80th page of the 483rd volume of the records, Moon was quoted as stating during a Jan. 16, 2005 sermon in South Korea, "(The family name of) 'Nakasone' has the meaning of a person in an important position standing in the middle and connecting roots. If the family loses this important mission, the lineage and its descendants would perish. This time, a record number of more than 300 Unification Church households participated in the election in an attempt to get Hirofumi Nakasone voted in. That's why he was elected. Unless the affluent come together and provide support, (they) are severed. The Unification Church is a fearsome organization."
Former Prime Minister Nakasone built up an "important position" in Japan's conservative political circles, making him the fifth longest-serving prime minister in post-World War II Japan. He retired from politics in 2003 after last serving as a House of Representatives member. In the 2005 address, Moon referred to the possibility of the Nakasone family declining due to Yasuhiro's retirement, and is also thought to have mentioned the 2004 House of Councillors election in which his son Hirofumi ran. Yet it remains unclear if the Unification Church actually assisted the younger Nakasone in his election campaign.

Moon's statements regarding the Nakasone family appeared in "The Sermons of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon," a Korean-language collection of Moon's sermons given to followers in South Korea between 1956 and 2009. The volumes continued to be published until 2012, when Moon passed away.
Moon mentioned 31 past Japanese prime ministers a total of 1,330 times in the 615 volumes of sermon records spanning some 200,000 pages, and Yasuhiro Nakasone was mentioned a total of 693 times, the most numerous among those 31 leaders, according to a Mainichi Shimbun probe.
General Paul Nakasone said U.S. Cyber Command conducted "more than two dozen" operations to counter foreign attempts to interfere in the 2020 elections.

“It was evident that the Treasury and Commerce Departments, the first agencies reported to be breached, were only part of a far larger operation whose sophistication stunned even experts who have been following a quarter-century of Russian hacks on the Pentagon and American civilian agencies.”

In office for five years from November 1982 to November 1987, Nakasone was known for trying to integrate the nation defeated in World War II as a full-fledged member of the West during the Cold War era. AFP
