I'm watching TOS straight through for the first time and it's actually hilarious how many times Kirk turns down a relationship with a woman in favor of his ship/crew. I'm on s1 e10 or so and he's done this explicitly at least 3 times (Naked Time, Dagger of the Mind, The Corbomite Maneuver, probably more) every time saying some variation on "I don't have time for a woman, the only woman in my life is my ship"

I understand why all those 60s women said he was gay. They're absolutely correct.

The first time she gets drunk after the events of Naked Time Nurse Chapel remembers what happened because temporal anomaly or not state dependent memory is a powerful thing. Bones* (who is seriously regretting offering to share the last** of his second best brandy with her) is like “wait you kissed Spock on his hand?” Which is some seriously juicy gossip but Christine is like “this stays between the two of us you have to promise me you’ll take this to your graaaaave” (she says this last part while falling out of her chair). McCoy decides that this falls under Space HIPAA so he doesn’t tell anyone. But at some point Spock mind melds with him and if things weren’t awkward between him and Christine well now they are extremely awkward!

*McCoy seemed unaffected by the infection which I maintain is due to that man never having had an inside thought in his life. The man is TV Tropes poster child of the Id. So even if he was infected (and he likely was because I didn’t see any PPE being used) but there was no noticeable difference.

**I imagine that crewmen are limited in the amount of liquor they are allowed to posses. Security isn’t going to toss anyone’s quarters but it’s understood that you shouldn’t have more than a bottle or two in your possession but following protocol was never something this crew showed much of an aptitude for.

I got to that Lower Decks season 2 episode. I was not prepared. I was SO NOT PREPARED. Also, I found out why the rating for the show is so high.

I laughed so hard I cried and then kept snort laughing periodically till the end of the episode. Now I'm crying again because obviously had to find the bit on youtube. You know, for research.
