Just found out people are against narcan being publicly available and I am sooo fucking pissed. First of all it is a LIFE SAVING DRUG, which means you guessed it, IT SAVES LIVES. Second of all people are saying it SOMEHOW ENABLES DRUG USERS??????? While that is not only extremely wrong as multiple studies have shown- have you ever seen someone be woken up from an overdose with narcan, they are not having a fun time and do NOT want to go through that again which is a pretty strong deterrent as well as coming that close to death. Thirdly, there are absolutely no downsides to nalaxone whatsoever, aside from literally flooding your lungs if you spray a comically large amount into your nose, no… downsides… why are people against this. And lastly maybe people are against it because they just don’t care about drug users/homeless/downtrodden populations and think we’d be better off without them. To which I say ARE YOU EVEN FUCKING HUMAN, THOSE ARE PEOPLE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU WALKING SACK OF SHIT. Ugh learning about all the beneficial drugs that were more readily available than narcan during EMT courses got me like “wow, all these drugs all have contraindications where you gotta be really careful about administering them, then nalaxone walks in the door and says “I AM LITERALLY THE COOLEST DAMN DRUG EVER I WILL BRING SOMEONE BACK FROM THE EDGE IN A SNAP WITH NO DANGER TO ANYBODY”. God sometimes I hate people who don’t know how to use their noggins.
Ugh… go to a local clinic or fire station and pick up a thing of narcan, please, you could save a life.
