It isn’t that she’s not listening - she is, but what he’s telling her makes... Well, it makes just about no sense whatsoever. When he finally finishes his explanation, she hesitates for a moment before deciding to just be honest.

               now, to be fair, she’d not been paying too much attention to the old man in the first place. he’d been running in the opposite direction as he’d yelled it, so it’s perfectly possible that the blonde’s misheard him. but if she’s heard right, then it’d been a very bad word ending in -itch, and Rose doesn’t think she’s done anything to warrant the insult, especially given that she’d just been trying to be helpful by getting rid of some pesky little aliens that had been messing with the electricity.

          “your car is smoking.”   which, even in her young age, trixie knew was not good. cars weren’t supposed to smoke, or smell funny. and they definitely shouldn’t look like they were about to fall apart with the slightest wind blowing. still. it was miraculously standing, and she had to give it props for that. when it makes a sputtering noise, she takes a very large step back, and then blinks up at the man.   “you should probably call someone about that.”

     he  just  stares ,  for  a  moment .  listen ,  he  likes  a  good  eighteenth  century  joke  as  much  as  the  next  immortal  being ,  but  that's  just . . .  well ,  it's  nearly  as  embarrassing  as  when  aziraphale  tries  to  do  his  stupid  magic  tricks .  (  nearly ,  because  nothing  is  as  embarrassing  as  someone  who  can  do  actual  literal  magic  doing  cheap  tricks .  )  crowley  sighs ,  pinching  the  bridge  of  his  nose  for  a  moment ,  before  looking  back  up  at  the  human .  ❝  do  me  a  quick  favor ,  yeah ?  never  say  that  again .  ❞
