Dear Gus & Magnus,
I didn't take a picture today, so I dug into the archives and found this one from six years ago -- the day we buried Mum. My respect and appreciation for my paternal grandmother grew more as time went on, and that growth hasn't stopped since her death. I've come to realize that her matriarchy was nearly an impossible job, but she did it successfully. After her death, the family drifted apart, as families do.
On her death bed, she asked us to do the opposite, so this year Mom and I hosted that side of the family for a brunch the Saturday after Mum's birthday. I don't believe in an afterlife, but on the off-chance Mum could see her family all together, I hope we made her happy.
Dad.
