Wondering why Liz Gold’s name was changed to Nancy Perry for the adaptation of “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold” (1967). Can’t help but feel they didn’t want the central romance to involve a Jewish woman. Her being Jewish wasn’t plot essential, but I do think it was important in terms of the landscape of people who got sucked into the (in-universe) plot and especially who got sacrificed. Also, it adds context to her Communism.
