In as much as I'm using Tumblr to promote my work on AO3, these are my latest stories. At this point, I'm only writing DS9-centric fan fic, though I love TNG too and have written some crossover fic.

The Good Son - Julian Bashir visits his parents to bail his father out of a blackmailer's scheme and protect their collective secret. Includes some off screen non-con. M-rated.

Two Men Talk at a Bar - Late one night while drunk, Miles O'Brien asks Julian Bashir a perfectly innocent question about his sex life. The conversation quickly gets out of hand. Very cracky. E-rated.

Karma Police - Luther Sloan decides to let Doctor Bashir practice torture on him. Idiot. T-Rated.

both the Hoover and the McCarthyism books I read recently made mention of the rumours about 1952 VP nominee, Adlai Stevenson's, sexuality, and so I was like, oh?? 👀 bisexual king??? but then I looked it up, and apparently it was just a smear-campaign based on something a college basketball player said + the ole "If you want to be against McCarthy, boys, you've got to be either a Communist or a cocksucker". the wikipedia page doesn't even mention the rumours/smear at all😂it does have this great line tho:

I wonder if there's not as many first person pov novels in English, because I've seen many people dislike that pov in fanfics. In Korea, many novels are in first person, especially the older — like in 20C — ones. I grew up reading first person novels in school textbook.

I actually don't entirely agree with the "Garak and Julian are incapable of communicating clearly" angle that's very common for fandom. I think it's true for slices of the timeline, and more true for Garak than Julian, but I think it sorta gets... Over stated?

I don't mind it as a plot in fanfiction I think it's great. I just also get a lil sad when it's treated as the default ur canon when the source is a wee bit more nuanced than that.

Fun fact: Garak and Bashir were canonically briefly on Cardassia together in the finale.

Garak and Bashir’s parting scene in What You Leave Behind takes place in the Dominion HQ on Cardassia (same room as where Garak and Kira and Odo just had their showdown with the Voice of the Link). The establishing details are kind of blink-and-you-miss-it, so it makes sense that there are so many folks under the impression this scene takes place on a ship or on the station, but at the start of the scene you can clearly see the Cardassian and Dominion symbols on the wall behind Garak.

Anyway, now when you think about that scene you can - if you want to - apply to it a veneer of either Garak or Julian internally having BIG feelings about finally being on Cardassian soil with each other (but it’s all wrong… 😭 it wasn’t supposed to be like this… 😭). 🥰
