I'm happy to say that Silver family is finally all together 🥹❤️‍🔥

Yes, this is the awesome project I've been working on for so long — the action figure of Nancy!

Initially, I only had John out of the three of them, but it was breaking my heart to see him all alone. So firstly I bought him his pet — Captain Flint, and then I decided that I simply have to make him his beloved wife. And damn, I'm very happy with how she turned out. I'll brag that when I was studying at the art school, I was the best in my group in sculpture classes and the teacher even told me to quit my silly drawings and take up sculpturing seriously 😅

About materials: I used sculpting clay, acrylic paints and two types of varnish. By the way, for some reason some people consider Nan to be my original character, but this is not true. She is there in the book, so Sir Stevenson owns all the rights to her. I just came up with the design and the name :>

And when I have some free time and be in the right mood, I'll show you my entire «Treasure Island» action figures collection!

Yes, I drew this lovely couple again — John and Nan 🥺🫶🏻

And this time I worked in a completely unusual technique for me! The idea to experiment some came up spontaneously. Initially, it was just a sketch on paper without any particular idea (just cute Mr. and Mrs. Silver, nothing too special), but suddenly I decided to cover it with color right on top in digital. It turned out nice and I decided to go on and experiment also with the light. I chose the backlight from the sunset (it's a romantic picture, after all 😉💞)

And yeah, the most important thing: I certainly based on the original sketch, but still painted the whole artwork with color splashes! And the lineart was the final stage. Usually, it's exactly the opposite. It was a super interesting experience and, so to speak, challenging. I am very happy with the result ❤️‍🔥

P.S. I LOVE this song. While I was drawing this art, I was listening to it on repeat, because, in my opinion, it PERFECTLY suits John Silver both in the meaning of the lyrics, and in the general vibe, and even in the marine theme. So, you can consider this drawing with my beloved pirate and his wonderful wife my full-fledged illustration for this awesome track 🥹❤️

(Too bad I didn't find the translation of the lyrics into English... So, I guess I will be translating it myself. When I'll be done, I'll update the post!)

Upd: Translation done! Though I'm totally not a pro in poetic translation, I tried my best to make it sound in the same rhythm and have rhymes too. And plus the lyrics are almost word-for-word accurate to the original. So, it turned out quite good imo, I managed to find the balance. Enjoy!~

Long John Silver and his wife 👩🏿‍❤️‍👨🏻❤️‍🔥

I love them very much, and this artwork is one of my favorites in general. I made it literally in one day, since I was that excited about the idea of developing a design for Silver’s wife and then immediately drawing them together 🥰

So, please love and favor such a beautiful lady! My headcanon is that her name is Nancy 💕

Although she plays a role in the plot, she's mentioned literally 3 times during the book. Not even speaking of the movie-adaptations. Okay, in some of them she is mentioned, but never shown (the only exception is “Takarajima” anime of 1978). By the way, she’s super awesome there and the design is cool! What's to my favorite soviet animation movie from 1988, it actually says in Silver’s dossier that he is not married. Misinformation, it happens to be 🧐

Still, I really like Nan as a character. I imagine her as such a stately, strong and wise woman, worthy of her husband. I also really like the overall concept of her and John's marriage, and it seems like they have a lot of respect for each other. Also, I am sure that John protects Nancy in every possible way. Especially considering her vulnerable position in society due to her dark skin color. And yes, it’s extremely cool that the two of them don’t care about the fact that interracial marriages were not approved by society then. So to speak, plus one reason to adore these two loves ❤️

It would be so nice, of course, if their relationship were revealed in more detail. Well... As usual, I can only adhere to the sacred rule:"If there is no content of the character/ship/fandom, make it yourself!" 😁

As for the design, it's interesting. I wanted to come up with an outfit for her that would look expensive and status-worthy, without actually being one. And without me going beyond the cartoon style, of course. I wanted to reflect both how she and her husband generally rebel against the standards of society (which I wrote about above), and how they are going to increase their social status and get rich by getting Flint's treasure.

Fun fact: only after a while I've finished the art, I discovered that I've had unknowingly taken as reference the looks of my dearly beloved singer — the beautiful Donna Summer 😍

By the way, I’ve already come up with Nan’s design for a couple of other movie-adaptations (I’ll show you soon!)
