I saw this on a post and I completely agree: Nancy Drew doesn't need anything added to her character to make her "interesting." I think that's why HerInteractive succeeded in a Nancy Drew media reboot where movies and shows did not. She is snarky, she is intelligent, she's a bit of a klepto, and she is determined. That's enough. She doesn't need all this other stuff to make her an endearing character. In fact, the way she is is WHY she's an endearing character. That's why I wish adaptions would build off of HerInteractive's Nancy. That's why I am so upset that HerInteractive seems to be changing Nancy. Maybe it is all for the best, what they are trying to do with her character and the franchise, but it just feels like I'm losing the one "true" adaption of her character.

So I mean, go ahead. Add ghosts, add characters, add chaos. Whatever. Do what you think you need to do to "keep it interesting." No, really. I mean, that's what I'm doing.

But for God's sake. Keep true to Nancy Drew. The real one. The one I knew, and grew up with. The one I looked up to. The one I admired.

I don't know who this is directed at, but I felt it needed said.

Death of Pluto (Coming Soon!)

Hey all, I wanted to give a teaser for the upcoming sequel to The Haunting of Lockwood Estates, whose working title is Death of Pluto.

April 2008.  

It has barely been a month since the life-altering events in Blackridge, New Hampshire, and 22-year-old Nancy Drew is working desperately to get back to normal. But even the simplest of cases leave her worrying that every shadow hides the supernatural. It doesn’t help that her new friend, Dean Winchester, has been sending her monster-hunting tips every day, with Sam sending rebuttals of what he would do instead.

In the midst of Nancy having a crisis over whether to confide in Ned about the existence of ghosts, an old friend calls, begging for her help in finding Sonny Joon, who has vanished while searching for an alien artifact deep in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico.

Hidden in the moody shadows on the southeast corner of the Land of Enchantment, Nancy must traverse ancient legends, restless spirits, and alien activity, as well as unexplained astronomical events, monsters, and the possibility of a realm beyond her own.

Balancing her new knowledge of the supernatural with her disbelief of aliens, as well as her relationships and newfound allies, Nancy must figure out what exactly she believes in.

Before someone else decides for her.

March 2008 finds the town of Blackridge, New Hampshire in a roar of upset. A place called Lockwood Estates has begun once again claiming lives after nearly ten years of silence. No one has survived a night there in decades, and it is rumored to be haunted by a growing number of grim souls.

After the most recent unexplainable murder, Sam and Dean Winchester have been asked to step in by an anonymous, and desperate, benefactor. Both are certain that they can have the job wrapped up by midnight and be on their way.

Meanwhile, the county sheriff has just called in P.I. Nancy Drew to investigate. With an impressive portfolio and a stubborn mindset, Nancy is positive that she can get to the bottom of the case without any help.

What none of them realize, is that all three of them are in danger from what they least believe in, and if they don’t work together, they may just become the next victims of Lockwood Estates.
