Nanny reader anon here! I love this omg. Thank you for answering!!
Nanny!Reader is completely oblivious in my imagination. Wonât realize sheâs being courted until the wedding day (or rather, wedding night đ) level of obliviousness. Seeing someone? What does that have to do with work?? Do they think sheâs secretly bringing strange men around their daughter??? She would never!! Please donât fire her, Your Majesties!! Oh thatâs not it? Then why the interrogationâŠ?
All these gifts are so sweet, but so unnecessary! But thank you of course! Oh, but theyâre getting a bit bold⊠are you sure this wasnât meant for his majesty, Queen LilithâŠ?
Charlie no! Nanny!Reader is not mama or mommy reader or nanny mama! Please stop before your parents hear! What does you mean mommy and daddy said Nanny!Reader is other mommy now
Why are the other staff and servants addressing reader as her highness??? The closest sheâs ever been to being royal was a part time job at Dairy Queen during her school years!!
SJBDJCJD Oblivious reader is so good and can be so cute honestly đđ like, you're sitting there wondering how you didn't notice it before... despite the fact that they were being so not subtle about it they may as well have had a big neon sign over their heads that read "WE LOVE YOU PLEASE MARRY US"
But also consider... you finally catch on to their courting long before then. Whether it be by you simply putting two and two together, or them making their feelings known to you in their own way, leaving the door open for you to make the choice on whether or not to walk through yourself.
They understand if you don't feel comfortable staying with them anymore... what they are asking of you is not at all appropriate for the original agreement you signed up for. But they've fallen so hard for you that they simply can't hide how they truly feel anymore.
The choice is yours whether or not you want to stay. You could disappear from theirs and Charlie's lives tomorrow morning. They won't stop you. But it would hurt so fucking bad.
Their door is always open for you.
Literally.
That night, after hours of mulling over your own feelings for the couple, your mind is made up.
And instead of packing your bags, instead of running far away into the night never to return, you think about how much you've come to love them too. how much you love charlie. How you don't think you could ever bear the thought of leaving them behind. They've become too important to you. And vice versa.
So instead, you sneak out of your room, down the long hallway towards the bedroom of the king and queen.
Your heart thumping hard in your chest as you grab the handles to the two large doors that lead into their bedchamber, knowing that what you're about to do is going to completely turn your ordinary life into something you never could've imagined for yourself...
You turn the handles and step inside to your new life.
Lu and Lily inviting nanny!reader to go out on a trip into the city with them to buy some things for Charlie's schooling. Which they definitely do! But it also gives them a reason to spoil you with some gifts of your own. They even treat you to a nice meal and it's definitely not a date btw.
They just wanna get to know you better! That's all! And they keep it strictly professional, of course!
Such as subtly prodding to find out if you're seeing anyone right now-
Itâs a rarity that Simon Riley is home for Christmas. So of course you, Nanny!Reader are doing impromptu Christmas photos.
cw: 18+ mdni, fluff and angst.
Christmas is usually spent whenever Simon is here, be it in January or November if he can, sometimes even February. You usually still have your own Christmas with the kids, taking home videos to send to Simon. But this year Simon is here, which means the Pinterest board is finally being put to use, directing Simon exactly how you want the lights and decor hung in the library. And you had Simon out lights on the house along with that little Santa with his reindeer thatâs been sitting in the garage since the twins were three.
You were going all out.
Doing a full timed schedule the day like an executive creative director and manager before you too photos so no one, not even the devil himself, coukd interrupt this special time.
âAnd then youâll do a silly faces, change out of the Christmas sweaters, more formal photos and boom, youâll be done. Capeesh?â ïżŒ
Simon had an eyebrow raised, laughing to himself while drinking his cup of tea.
âWhy is it so long?â Jamie whined.
âItâs only an hour and a half, snacks and other goodies will be provided,â you point over to his twin sister like youâre in a press conference, ânext question?â
âWhy arenât you going tâ be in the family photos? Weâre family!â
âYeah! we have to do it together, especially since Dad is here.â
You give an awkward look, for one, itâs not in the schedule. For two, if you showed up in the Christmas photos that you send out every year (to Kyle, Johnny, Kate and John, and two of Simons other friends) theyâd all suddenly thinkâ theyâd think youâd married into the family.
But you canât say that to two big doe eyed children, looking to you like thatâs what they wanted for Christmas. You look towards their father for help, who knows exactly what youâre thinking. Itâs good that youâre thinking like that, in a way youâre manifesting with him.
He takes another sip of his tea, so nonchalant, âItâs just a few Dovie.â
It only riles the kids up, begging and pleading around the house, even after school until you finally cave at bedtime. âUgh! Fine! Fine! Iâll be in some! Jesus.â You huff, throwing your arms up in surrender. You wipe your face in frustration, both Jamie and Julie hugging your sides and squealing in excitement.
âWhy did you go and do that Simon, seriously, they wouldnât give up on it.â You sigh, plopping down on the couch next to him.
The older man had invited you to a late night movie, an action one, not on theme but just to fill the space. Both of you were half paying attention. The twins were knocked out upstairs in their rooms, so many up coming events at school and now at home, they were exhausted.
Simon and you, you and Simonâ have gotten closer. Finding no reason to sleep alone now, worse you two have been giving each other light touches, brushing hands, locking fingers, him brushing your curls backâ it made your stomach tie in knots. In a good way of course, but Simon was your boss. Not your friend, not your lover, but your boss.
But itâs times like this, when his hand would snake onto your back, gently pulling you towards him to lay on his chest, letting his calloused hand rub up and down your spine.
âWeâre close like family-â
âBut-â
ââand the twins want you in it, I canât say no to them.â
âYes you can.â
His hand goes to cup yout face, his brown eyes searching yours, âItâs the first time Iâve been home properly during Christmas in nearly a decade love. I think we should celebrate it to its full capacity like youâve been wanting. âS tha alright?â
How could you say no to that?
So fucking cute, so handsome when he looked at you like you were the only person in the world.
You gently press your hands on his chest, trying to get up, you turn your head, trying to hide your flustered face, âIâll have to find a proper sweater to wear so I can match-â
Simon only pulls you back down into his muscular and scared arms, âThat can wait, canât it?â
And you almost let him kiss you right there, with the fire crackling from the fire place, the lights twinkling from the tree, the lights dim, you could feel his breath against your lipsâ had not been for a loud yell from the main character snapping you out of it. Hiding your face in the crook of his neck.
Simons note to self: never play an action movie when trying to make the first move ever in your life.
The next day went off without a hitch though, starting off with the Christmas sweaters, you managed to get all three Rileyâs to take photos without you, even got the smallest of smiles from Simon while he held the kids in his arms. He loved the two giggly and slightly sure high kids to pieces.
And then you joined in a few, a few formal, a few silly ones, some even just with the kids that Simon took and would be sure to put along the fee heâd been collecting for his wallet.
And just as you were about to take the last set of pictures there was a knock on the door.
âShit-â
Gasp from Julie, ââSwear jar!â
âShoot! I mean shoot! We all heard shoot!â You ramble, and Simon only chuckles. Offering to put in a dollar in your place. You quickly run from the camera to the front door, opening it without properly looking bout the hole.
You blink, brows knitting together, âWhat are you doing here.â
Then a huff, a click of a heal, she puts her hand on her hip, decked out in a thick black parka fur coat, a matching fur hat, familiar curls popping out from underneath, âThatâs some way to talk to your mother. The mother you havenât seen in months at that!â
You open your lips to say something but quickly close them, clearing your throat, âSorry Mom.â
She looks you up and down, sighing, âAre you gonna let me in or are you just gonna let me stand out in the cold this whole time.â
âRight,â you step to the side, letting her in the house and shutting the door while squeezing your eyes shut. Why was this happening now at all times?
Your mother looks at the scene, the older man and two kids, the matching outfits that all four of you were wearing and only shakes her head in displeasure. Looking just like you when youâre annoyed.
â[+]?â Your mom calls for you and youâre quick to turn, forcing a smile, âMom! Could you wait in the kitchen please?â
Another sigh, walking straight and you look at the three Rileyâs. Simon immediately to you, whispering, âYou alright?â
âIâm fine, I justâ could you wait upstairs until I call you, please?â And youâre desperate, tugging at the dark red turtle neck he has on. He glanced between you and the woman, watching you force another smiled he hated it, but obliges. Rounding up the kids and taking them to their room.
âWas tha- was tha [+]âs mum Daddy?â Julie asks.
âYeah, baby, Iâm pretty sure.â
âWas something wrong? She looked upset.â Jamie pouts.
Simon letâs put a breath, âI hope not.â
âMom-â
âImagine my horror going to your apartment and finding out you didnât live there anymore-â
âI told you when I moved, I was movingââ
Sheâs pacing, heals clicking back and forth with every step, âYouâre lucky I have eyes of a hawk even when Iâm not there, the owner of the building saw your poor mother in distress and told me exactly where you were! I thought youâd be in another apartment, the one your father wanted you in when you first moved here? Remember the one-â
You wipe your face, ââMom, it was too much! I couldnât afford it!â
âYour father was willing to pay for it but you said no and went with the small one!â
âThatâs if I got a business degreeââ
ââAnd what are you doing now, huh? Playing nanny in some random house, and you live here now? It looks to me that youâre playing house.â
You take a sharp intake of breath , speaking softly, âItâs my job mom, I like it very much. And Iâm good at it.â
âMaybe if you were nannying for multiple families or had your on quartersââ
Itâs never enough for your mother. It always has to be bigger and better and up to her standard or thereâs no point in trying at all. Itâs been the same since you were a kid. You wanted simple, your mom wanted extravagant. You wanted to join choir, she had you in ballet and in acting classes. She wanted you to quickly get a quaint little job and get married, you wanted to explore, try different things. Which led you to nannying.
That would never be enough.
âAnd Iâve always told you [+], this ânannyingâ thing, thereâs no stability in it. Youâve got to grow up, those kids wonât need you forever. Theres still time for you to get married like your sisters and brothers and be happy. Not all this- I donât even know what to call it.â She scuffs, waving her hand around.
It stings you right in the chest. Makes you wince. Your mom, slips off her fur gloves, cupping your face in her hands, âI just worry about you, youâre my baby sweetheart. I want the best for you.â At least with that you know sheâs sincere.
At least, you think she is.
You like to think she is.
âLetâs talk more tomorrow for dinner, okay? Iâm exhausted from the flight and the drive here.â She sighs, walking past you without a second thought.
Youâre quick to follow behind, just as youâve always done. Trying to Follow her lead, âHow are you getting back?â
She opens the front door, the car black truck she came in still parked out front, âThe driver of course, your father hired him for the entire trip. Isnât he thoughtful [+]?â She smiles.
âI- mom!â You call out, heart thumping in your chest.
âYes sweetie.â
You feel your throat go dry, but your force the words out because you desperately want to make her proud, âI-Iâll figure it out before the end of the year. So please, just give me a bit of time.â
She gives you a proud smile, coming back to kiss your cheeks, âThatâs my good girl! I knew you had it in you. Your father will be so happy! Theres an office job waiting for you, nothing wrong with an office job!â
You mom giggles, waving as she gets back into the car.
âBye my love, weâll talk soon!â
You close the door pressing your head against the cool wood, Completely exhausted.
And Simon hopes he didnât hear what he think he just did.
Just- when Simon gets jealous that Nanny!Reader gets approached by a man, the whole family gets jealous.
Itâs stupid really. Simon Riley is too old to be feeling like this about his employee.
But you were- you were- god, you were the glue of the family. He wouldnât be half the father he is now without you by his side, took the time to teach him itâs okay to be soft and vulnerable to the little ones can trust him. Taught him a few things in the kitchen, taught him it was okay to trust in someone after Harper, his first wife died unexpectedly.
There was no family- there was no Simon without you.
So the concept of a man approaching you while you and the gang were Christmas shopping of all things, made no sense.
The kids, of course, didnât look anything like you but that bloke mustâve seen how close you four were right? Saw Jamie holding your hand and how Julie kept talking to you, right? Or the way yours and Simons hands kept brushing against each other as you walked that made him want to run a thousand laps. The way youâd hook fingers when either one of you got a step too far, that fucking cunt saw it right?
Well, maybe not the last bit because of how packed the department store was. But families come in all shapes and forms nowadays, itâs best for any stranger to assume that you, Nanny!reader, were his wife. His wife? Is that too drastic?
The way the guy is eyeing you up, itâs not drastic enough. Itâd be your title soon enough anyway.
So when you walked too far off, of course your beautiful self got stopped by someone.
âWhatâs taking [+] so long?â Jamie whined, leaning himself into Simons leg.
Simon clears his throat, rubbing his neck to ease his annoyance, âSheâs talkin tâ tha man over there.â
âWhat man?â Both twins said in disgust, whipped their heads around to find you, landing on where you stood near the Christmas ornaments. You were making casual conversation, lazily smiling and giggling at the guys words.
Julie tugged his coat, âDaddy, arenât you going to do something?â
âDo what honey, theyâre just havin a chat.â He sighed. Simon didnât haven the right to intervene here. You were a grown woman, he couldnât tell you what to do.
âBut heâs lookin at âer like you look at her Dad!âJamieâs eyebrows knitted together in worry. Looking back at you and the stranger.
Okay, point taken.
Simon evaluates the situation once more, the ends of his lips twitching under his mask as he bends down to his childrenâs level, âGot a little idea we could try.â
Itâs not like you asked the guy to come up to you, you were both looking for last set of blue ornaments and reached for the same one.
The stranger didnât mind giving them to you, long as you told him why you needed them.
Stupid? sure, you couldâve just grabbed them and went on your merry way. But the dude wasnât half bad looking, tall, low fade, a model-esc smile, piercingsâ you didnât mind indulging him.
All an excuse to create some space between you and Simon which had gotten so much closer since you started living in the Riley household. You (and the twins of course) slept in Simons room almost 4 times a week.
So much so, the alarm got put on your side of the bed because Simon had a habit of turning it off and flipping over. Youâd sleepily turn it off with closed eyes and let out a little grunt, leaning over the twins and shaking Simon hard enough to get up.
And itâs times like that, you were so tired, so exhausted, you didnât even realize whenever Simon got out âf bed, heâd grumble a âmorninâ to you and youâd hum, taking over the roll as the twins pillow with your arm. And Simon would tangle your fingers together, gently kissing your knuckles.
He loved it.
You on the other hand, you were denying the love.
If you even tried to explain this to yout friends theyâd bombard you with questions non stop, Simon was your employer. Not for romance, a big fat no no.
And yet, you still talked for hours in his and your bedrooms, when he wasnât able to make dinner youâd wrap him a portion and leave it on the counter for him to see. Simon would get the errands you asked for and put them away, folded laundry with you on the weekendâ when you just werenât feeling yourself Simon could spot it out a mile away and let you go read a book or take a nap, even when you were on the clock and he was off.
Hellâ when you fell asleep on the couch, Simon would take you into his bedroom and youâd wake up in his muscular arms.
You were inches away from heaven.
You had to wake up though. Even today, Simons touch lingered on you, it really felt like- like you guys were a-
âMommy! There you are!â An oh so familiar voice sighed in relief, running into you as hugging your waist.
âI- Julie-â
âJamie ând I were looking for you everywhere! We thought you got lost!â She pouts, big brown eyes looking up at you and then looking toward the stranger. She scowls, âWho are you?â
He clears his throat, eyebrow raising, âYou have a child?â
Your eyes widen, air sweeping you up, stammering, âThis- I donât have any-â
ââMom! We finally found you!â Jamie comes running down the aisle, hugging your other side.
Your hands almost instinctively caress their heads, still confused as to what and why this was happening and like clock work, theres Simon close behind. âThe kids were worried âbout you dovie,â he slips his large hand down your waist, pulling you closer to him and kissing your temple, âDonât make us wait too long next time. Somethin happen with the ornaments?â
And the older brute eyes peer down at the stranger, and he takes a step back in fear- âYou have a good day with your family maâam.â
With that, the man dashes away, leaving you in the hold of three Rileyâs.
You let out a chuckle, almost unamused but you truly canât believe theyâve pulled this stunt.
You look up Simon, mouthing, âYouâre a fuckin cuntâ
And he lets out a snicker from his belly, arm wrapping around you shoulder and kissing your cheek before whispering in your ear, âOh, you fuckin love it.â
And heat rises under your cheeks making you squirm.
Okay fine, you give up.
Maybe you did fucking love it.
a/n: itâs the holiday season, I want to do a Christmas post to!!!
Nanny!reader whoâs trying to calm themselves down after being told you have 5 days to move out of your flat.
You knew your apartment was a little shit, the neighbors always fighting, and theres a major trash problem at least once a month, not shitty enough for the owner of the building to shrug and say, âlets just demolish it and rebuild right now lol đâ
Youâd been staring into space for the last three hours, thankfully getting the kids home and one piece, but you could barely help them with their homework. Dinner slowly being made as to not chop your fingers off.
âI think sheâs sick.â Jamie furrowed his eyebrows in concern, the two twins quickly had a conversation once their father got home.
âI donât think sheâs sick, maybe sheâs having a bad day.â Julie shrugged. Both twins looked up to Simon, âYou should help her out Daddy. I always feel better when we talk.â
âAnd donât scare her Dad! Sheâll really get sick.â Jamie whisper yelled.
Simon hummed, shrugging off his boots and coat, âSure, sure, Iâll give it a go.â
âYou donât feel sick.â Simon mumbled. You hadnât even noticed Simons large stature beside you, the back of his large hand feeling your forehead then your cheeks.
You nearly jump out of your skin, immediately pulling aways from his touch, looking elsewhere when you feel the heat under your cheeks, âMr. Rileyââ
ââSimon.â
âSimon, welcome home! How was your day.â You look up at him with a smile.
Simon gives you that handsome smirk, leaning against the kitchen sink, âIâm fine, itâs just,â he nods towards the wall, two sets of his brown eyes peaking behind the corner, âTheyâre worried about you.â
You glance at the twins, letting out an airy giggle and shaking your head. âIâm fine.â
âMust be really bad then.â He playfully nudged you, just a bit for him to fit with you at the sink. Him washing, you rinsing, your backs to the twins. âJust you ând me now, come on dovie.â Simonâs voice is so soft, deep and enchanting. You canât help but cave, your heart beat speed up.
You explain the situation, about how you have to move and find somewhere to stay by the end of the week.
âThatâs bloody ridiculous, innit?â
Your eyes slowly squint up to the blonde, cocking an eyebrow, the irritation youâve been holding in seapinh out, âYou donât think I can move out in a week? You donât think me, an independent woman no Destinyâs Child, can get this accomplished so soonââ
ââI think your landlord subjecting you to such bullshit last minute is fuckin ridiculous, sweetheart.â
âOh.â
You turn off the faucet, letting out an exhausted sigh as you lean against the sink, an apology escaping yout lips. That oh so charming low chuckle fills your ears as the dish water goes down the drain, he dries his hand on the rag,
âYou should just move in here, anyway.â
Move in? Here?
âYeah [+].â
You said that out loud reader. Great.
You smack your forehead, squeeze your eyes shut, âI couldnt possibly! Iâd be intruding-â
âYour family [+], and the second bedroom is practically yours-â
ââThatâs just when youâre away.â
âAnd when Iâm here, is your stuff not up there now?â
Simon makes good points.
Almost too good.
But what about rent? And splitting work and home? And how are you supposed to hide your growing feelings? And what about when- when you wanna fuck? And what aboutâ
Simon sees the wheels in your brain turning, he finds your hand thatâs gripping the counter, rubbing his thumb over your skin once he takes his hand in yours.
âMy mates will âelp out with the move, ând we can keep your stuff in the basement. Whatever else doesnât fit can go in storage. Donât think so hard and let me help you for once, yeah?â
Oh did Simon Riley have a power over you, the words fumbled out before you could stop them. And then there were squeals one twin jumping into yours and Simons arms with a multitude of questions.
The move was ridiculously smooth, yes there were nights you felt there was just too much in your little flat. But Simon came and helped put the last few things in boxes. Gaz, Soap and Price all helped move your stuff to where you needed to be, even the twins gave you a helping hand with putting your books and cool trinkets away.
You were more than thankful for all the help.
The twins would not leave your room. More than fascinated with the pictures you had with friends and family, the cool movie & music posters slowly being put on the walls of the bedroom, shelves of CDâs and vinyls and trinkets and books. Down the short stack of comic books you had.
âYou wanna read it?â You smirked, down at Jamie as you folded some clothes. He blushes, giving you those adorable puppy eyes, âC-can I?â
âYou can, but if you leave out this room with it without asking Iâll have to eat you.â You playfully frown.
And then Julie loved to see you do your hair in your vanity. Detangling your hair, braiding and twisting it, defining your curls, or curling it, the girl always finding a way to help you. Which made her more interested in doing her own hair.
âDonât you guys think youâre leaving out your father?â
You asked two weeks after moving in, you laid on the bed doom scrolling, both twins curled up on each of your sides, one on the tablet watching music videos youâd recommended and the other reading the books from your shelves just before it was time for bed. Theyâd become glued to you.
âMmm maybeâŠâ Julie mumbled, unmoving from her tablet.
âHe should come in here more often! Itâs fun in here!â Jamie suggests, rolling over to face you.
You scuff, laughing, âYou talk as if this is a play room, itâs my room.â
âAnd Dad would be impressed if he came in here, he has a stack of comics too!â
You plop your face into the pillow, hiding the smile forming on your face. You and Simon had common interests, but it just hit since it was so close to you now. Not just figments of imagination.
You huff, grabbing your pillow and getting uo from the bed.
Julie looks uo from the screen, âI thought you said we were sleeping in here!â
âYou canât, weâre all gonna have a sleep over in Dads room.â
âBut your room is more cozy [+]!â Jamie whines.
âThen just bring the blanket you like and come on!â
Simon can hear your muffled talking from down the hall, his reading glasses low on his nose after reading a parenting book. The ones he hided in his nightstand.
His bedroom door creaks open, revealing the three of you in pajamas and holding pillows and stuffed animals. âWhatâs this about?â
The twins giggle, skipping and jumping onto the bed, âitâs a Sleep over!â
Simons eyes smile, amused as he watched his twins climb through the comforters and onto him, he grunts, flipping Jamie over as he laughs, âAnd whose idea was this?â
â[+]âs!â Julie points and Jamie chimes in, âShe said itâd be fun!â
Your heart beat speeds up, embarrassed at the two of them ratting you out, âI-I thought youâd felt left out since theyâve been having with me so much soâŠâ you trial off, climbing onto the bed.
The older man canât help but stare at you, his own heart racing as you get closer.
Heâs cheeky, âI have felt a little lonely-â
â-Oh hush!â You roll your eyes, smacking him in the face with a pillow.
The twins all cuddle up to Simon making you giggle at the sight of this big man with two little kids. Itâs too adorable.
âYou have to get close to Daddy too [+]!â Jamie tugs your arm.
âDaddy gets really warm at night, heâs like a heated blanket!â Julie looks over at you.
You gulp, inching into his space. Simon pulls all three of you into his arms, his hand patting your back, âJust sleep.â
As if you could sleep like this.
And the house is warm, the smell of incense in the air and the bed cozy. You hear Simons voice onceâs more min the darkness in the bedroom.
âWhy do dragons often sleep during the day?â
â[+], donât ask why!â
âNo Dad! Please!â
âDonât you wanna know [+]?â
You kinda do.
You giggle softly, âWhy?â
âNo!â
âNooo!â
âSo they can fight knights.â
âOh God!â You groan, but maybe, just maybe, you wouldnât mind hearing those corny jokes for the rest of your life, in this bed, and cozied up to Simon Riley.
a/n: there was only supposed to be one nanny!Reader drabble, and now there are three (derogatory). This one was long but very fluffy. (Imo) Simon is a parent who tries to be a good parent he can be, so even as the kids age he wants to try what he can so his kids know at the very least, he was there for them. And then theres you, Simon Riley would do anything for you. And I mean anything. Helping you move is no big feat but helping you move in, heâs been trying to get you to live in his home for YEARS. He knows heâs one step closer to having you in his bed (permanently). (But this authors note was long too, sorry I like plot)
The time Simon went MIA for 7 months on Nanny!Reader
It, of course, was out the blue while he was stationed out of country. You sent your daily updates and almost always Simon replied.
But then he stopped replying.
Not a call. Not a text. Not even from an unknown number.
It was you and the twins who were four. And there was no one else, you didnât know Simons mother, and there wasnât anyone you knew of that was close to Simon outside of the 141.
You and Simon were the only two. You were the emergency contact, the guardian at pickup and putting the twins down. You were the person who really had to be a parent and the babysitter. There when Julie got a fever and Jamie would cry because Julie was crying. Or when Jamie wrote his and his sisters name for the first time. And the time Julie learned that big girls can cry when they need help too. And when the twins used there bicycles for the first time.
Itâs not like you havenât done it before, just after the twins turned three Simon got deployed for 4 months. But he was still letting you know he was alive.
Everything was in the air here.
He could be dead or alive and you wouldnât know. Fuck, you didnât know, spending late nights with the twins in your arms, thinking about what you would need to do to protect those kids. Moving, collecting your spare fundsâ anything for these two.
And then on a lazy Saturday afternoonâ
Itâs that special ring tone that rings through your ears, the kids know it and the both of them turn to your phone. You scurry off into the hallway head against the wall. You hear his breathing first, then his deep Manchester accent, âHey.â
âYouâre alive.â And you said it ever so plainly, just under a question.
âYeah,â thereâs a beat, âAnd the twins? How are they?â
You almost laughted sarcastically, mouth agape then forming into a thin line. Then repeated. No apology, no explanation, just âhow are the kids?â And you squeeze your eyes shut, trying to bury the irritationâ noâ the fury building inside you tall as the eye can see. Your ears almost go out, but you hear those two adorable brunettes, singing along to the Zoboomafoo theme song, dancing up a storm.
Cute, your kids are really fucking adorable it almost hurts.
You smack your teeth, let out an exhale, âClench your fucking jaw the next time I see you.â
And with that, you hung up.
You gave the kids such a perfect smile telling them their Daddy would be home soon and how you should all prepare drawings for Daddy! And they were both all smiles and giggles while you pulled out paper and crayons and set them on the coffee table.
The brute gets back in one piece, thankfully, an hour before nap time a week or so later. The twins are in tears because they missed him so much they donât even know why they feel the way they do. They just know he was gone for too long and Simon is more than overjoyed to be back. A relief that heâs seeing his kids once again after fighting through hell to get back home. The too rascals crawl about the big man, their huge copy. God, itâs too cute for your heart. Your heart swelling, pounding, itâs the whirlwind of emotions going through you.
Simon doesnât know what to say to you exactly, trying to find the right words to tell you something since he got on the second flight he had to get on to get back home. By the time he gets downstairs after getting the kids down for their nap, he still doesnât know what to say.
And he seeâs you leaning with one hand on the kitchen island, taking a sip of tea youâve just brewed for yourself and then there a shot of liquor in another glass.
Before the older man can say anything before you move, gritting, a much needed reminder, âYour jaw.â
Right! She said toâ
And itâs a quick but harsh blow to the face with your fist. One that makes Simon stumble backwards a few feet. Itâs one heâll know will bruise, heâs lucky no blood came from it.
â[+]-â
ââItâd be one thing if you and I both didnât give a shit about your kids. But we both love those two new humans to pieces and you leave me hanging in a harsh wind to dry, for months? Hah- have you lost your mind?â You squint.
âI thought youâd gone with God a-and I fully prepared for the absolute worst. âOkay, how do I get custody of Julie and Jamie? How am I gonna provide? Should I call my mom? Where is this manâs body so you donât rot alone?â I- ooooh!â You let out a frustrated noise, sock covered feet slapping against the hardwood floor.
You hold your hands together tight with a loud clap! Finally looking him in his blue eyes and you can see it. All the remorse that heâs holding for putting you in this state. For making his own kids unknowingly worry and you panicked and afraidâ
âAnd I wanna be so fucking clearâ this isnât about me! This about those two kids,â you point upstairs while whispering, âAnd them getting the best of you that they deserve and not being put on the fucking back burner! I donât care about jurisdiction or you canât legally make a call! I donât give a shit if you have to send a fucking pigeon in the air to get to me o-or some shit through Morse code! You let me know if youâre living or not because itâs not just you anymore. You have a family now and they love you! You canât leave them- shit- us behind! Divide the fucking earth in half if you have to and come back here and tell me! Live for them and live for yourself for godsake!â
Simon finally takes a step forward to you, pulling you into his big arms. You wrap your arms around his back, hitting him and letting out frustrated stomps and incoherent noises.
âYouâre a bloody annoyin asshole.â
âI know,â he breaths, âIâm sorry.â
You let out a wrangled groan, hitting his back once again. And itâs finally coming out, that crack in the back of your throat, tears dampening his military uniform.
âFuck, Iâll burry you myself if you ever try this shit again. Youâll be below the seven rings of hell!â You let out a muffled cry, clenching onto his uniform for dear life.
He rests his chin on your shoulder, squeezing you tight. âI know, love, I know. âM sorry.â
God, this was home. This is what love meant in every single way.
And thatâs probably when Simon Riley fell in love with you for the first time.
a/n: CAN YOUâ A DRAAAG PAAAATH, ETCHED IN THE SURFACE AS EVIDENCE, I LEFT THERE ON PURPOSEâ
Nanny!Reader whoâs been taking care of the Riley twins so long, theyâre practically begging you to be their mother.
Youâve been there through it all, and that means since the terrible twos, since they were still being trained to sleep in their own beds, to their first days of kindergarten, to secondary school graduationâ the birthdays, Christmasâ, football and piano lessons, the tantrums in betweenâ youâve seen it. The kids were practically yours since you were 20.
Itâs been fun watching the twins grow up into (their own type of) mini Simons. Too adorable. Jamie is the youngest, quiet and sometimes a bit timid but a firecracker waiting to blow. And then Julie, named after her mother, loud and outgoing with such a big heart but can be such (an adorable) baby. You love them both to pieces, and they love you almost more than you, they were two little ducklings who had to follow closely behindâ so much so you can never leave the house in peace.
Thing 1 and Thing 2, sat right on the bed as they watched you take different items from the dresser and stuff them into a spare bag.
âYou canât be really leaving, Dadâs just got âre.â
âWhy are you leaving? You canât just stay one more hour?â
âIâve told you,â you giggle, folding the last bit of clothes into your small suitcase, âItâs Friday which means Iâm off, which means Iâll see you Monday. Nothing has changed!â
âBut Dad has been dying toââ Jamie slaps a hand over his sisters mouth, ââDadâs been dying to catch up. For business reasons.â The boy finishes.
You roll you eyes, unconvinced, still putting your belongings away. You talk to Simon nearly everyday through call or text, you know he wasnât thinking about you. Probably. Youâre sure he doesnât have much to say to you about the kids.
âUncle Kyle ând Uncle Soap said we could play Fortnite with them. And Uncle John said he and Dad said theyâd teach Jamie how to play that card game if you came to play too!â Julie pleads.
âOh Please, you do not need four people to play Uno! This is time for you to spend time with your Dad and uncles who are downstairs. Time for family. Not stay up here watching me pack!â
âBut you are family [+].â Thry both pout in unison.
You sigh, how could they make the cutest faces, imaginable? Just like Simons, they both stole his face. âWeâve talked about this,â
âI love you both like your my ownâ shit- you both are my own. Itâs no coming in between it. Even if your Dad says he doesnât need me anymore, Iâll be here at the drop of a hat. But, Iâm not your family. Just a fairy to keep you three together because why?â
They both grumble, âCause Dad loves us so much, he needed a longer person to love us too.â
It was a silly thing you came up with when they were much younger. Jamie doesnât even believe in fairies anymore but it brought you four closer together. You give them a hopeful smile,
âAnyways your loving fairy has got to get a move on,â you kiss Julieâs cheek and kiss Jamies forehead, âI love you both, Iâll see you later.â
Simon looks up from the couch to see the two twins practically moping like two hurt puppies, takes a sip of tea, âLooks like you two couldnât convince her.â
âShe didnât even think twice!â Julie throws herself onto Gaz and Soap who both playfully groan in pain.
âYouâll get her next time, tried your best.â Simon says, and itâs almost always the same. The twins always want you to stay, and Simon doesnât stop them from pleading their case because he too wants you to stay. When they were younger and Simon was desperate, you wouldnât even think twice about staying. Hell, even when he got relaxed heâd suggest you stay, to help him bake or even if the kids smiled so brightly you couldnât say no. Youâd been the one who made their house a real home. Decorating the inside while you instructed Simon on how to put up decorations outside. Always had the house smelling good with your cooking. Simon was more than greatful to you for staying those long nights. It was the four of you against everything.
Until you got a boyfriend two years ago, and suddenly you had to leave every weekend without a second thought. Was it stupid for Simon to be jealous, especially at his age? Of course, but the man couldnât get you off his mind. Not when youâd been the person whoâs been taking care or his kids and his home for so long, who hes talked to on late nights and early mornings. Simon wanted you to be his kids mother, it just never looked like there was an in.
Not until you broke it off with your now ex, 6 months ago. The brute even baked a cake in celebration that you had a slice of (the cakes meaning a secret between him and the twins).
âWell she has to come back.â Jamie shrugs.
Simon cocks an eyebrow, âWhyâs tha?â
Jamie reaches in his back pocket, revealing the Forrest green object, âShe canât do anything without her wallet.â
Truly a Riley, Simon grabbed his son and ruffled his hair, âGood work kid.â
You didnât even realize youâd been missing your wallet till you got to the club with your friends. Having to wearily explain to your friends that you physically couldnât get in because your ID was at homeâ but not your flat. The Riley home. And itâd be easier just to stay out there than to get the wallet and drive back.
You showed back up to Riley residence, annoyed with two suitcases in hand, opening the door with the key that was just for you.
â[+]! You came back!â Julie is first to hug you around the waist, then Jamie who was tired and yawning but came to greet you nonetheless.
The ends of Simons lips are threatening to turn upward, leaning against the wall as he watches both his kids trap you stuck in the entryway.
âForgot something dovie?â Simon finally speaks, voice laced with humor.
You canât help but laugh at all of the mess these 3 have gotten you into, âYouâre a prick.â
And it has Simon laughing, joining the group hug like youd been gone for ages.
Making your heart race just the way youâve been hoping it wouldnât.
a/n: lmao this is nothing sandwich. âHere we go, I hope youâre hungryâ for nothing.â
