Hello all! If you've been wondering where I've been, I'm in the middle of doing walkthroughs on YouTube for NaNoRenO 2014. I just uploaded 'Hammer' by Uncle Mugen and I'll share the links for a few others very soon! Until then, check out what you may have missed!
Also, I shared this particular link first because it's come to our attention that the creator of the game, Uncle Mugen, has recently suffered a stroke and is currently paralyzed from the waist down. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at VNs Now is with Unc in this difficult time and we hope he'll have a speedy recover! Send him you well-wishes via Twitter!

The game contains 341 dialogue blocks, containing 7,125 words and 38,522
characters, for an average of 20.9 words and 113 characters per block.
The game contains 2 menus, 37 images, and 15 screens.
Remember to set config.developer to False before releasing.
Lint is not a substitute for thorough testing. Remember to update Ren'Py
before releasing. New releases fix bugs and improve compatibility.
Where be that game yo'- So I couldn't get BD out on time for various reasons, but, I'm feeling a heck of a lot better now and wanted to say this project isn't dead!! ovo
The demo will be out soon. No specific date seeing as I'm still sick/busy, but the script is all in place/the placeholder images. I just need to figure out how to make the pesky side images work.
Neb. and Madame Red's sprites won't be in it though. You'll have to deal with not amused Paloma being, well, not amused by her creator instead ahaha *shot*

As April 1st comes to a close (in which I didn't post yesterday since there were a lot of April Fools/fake VNs appearing as jokes), we're ready to tackle on a month's worth of visual novels. Stay tuned as I collect the completed ones for an updated Master List, review ones that stood out to me, and talk to creators about their struggles and triumphs in their creation of this year's NaNoRenO.
If you have completed a VN for NaNoRenO, send me a note! Otherwise, I'll be digging through the NaNoRenO tumblr tag and Lemma Soft Forums to see what I can discover! If you want me to review your game or are interested in me interviewing you over your progress, let me know.

Abyss [mystery, romance, fantasy] - Airrie finds herself falling through a dark sky, hitting the ground she feels her head split open and her bones break, she is sure she is dying. Waking to the cold chill of a dark cave with only the stars soft light shining through the overhead opening to guide her, she realizes somethings wrong, didn’t she just die? and where is she?
Cardiff _Insane Letters [drama, slice-of-life] - An autobiography/autofiction of a month in Cardiff. In which we talk about gay sex, cigarettes and alcohol. It also involves imaginary lovers and imaginary murders.
Clockwork City [steampunk] - Enter the world of Clockwork City. Follow a day in the life of Edyta a Roof Runner new to her job, and explore her blossoming friendships in a city full of intrigue and fantasy! The story begins with Edyta talking into a Chronodict, an audio recording device, leaving a message for her parents that she is safe, and about to being her work, when she is interrupted by Roz, a runner who has two metal hands and lower arms, and, who was the person who trained Edyta to run the rooftops. She is experienced and eager to see the woman do well, but has an intense dislike of those below the rooftops.
Colors ~ Aoi's Utopia [friendship] - WELCOME to Aoi's space, world, utopia in which he called "Colors" despite being a colorless or plain white place. But since he created this world, he can name and modify it to whatever comes in his mind. He believes he is alone in his own world and no one can enter it other than Aoi himself, but one day there appeared an energetic boy covered in bandages much to Aoi's astonishment. But there's more to it...
The Empty Orchestra [slice-of-life] - Sometimes you need to do something a little out of the ordinary, a little out of your comfort zone. Sometimes you need to talk to a stranger.
Fae [fairy tale, GxB] - The story starts as our brave heroine Lin is sent out on a dangerous quest to deliver a bottle of ginseng tincture to Grandfather Shi living on a faraway (about two hours ride) mountain.
Hammer [suspense] - A mysterious illness has spread throughout the world killing people everywhere and in desperation, you escaped and wandered aimlessly and ended up in some remote cabin somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
How Visual Novels Changed My Life [slice-of-life, friendship] - Between « mise en abyme » and meta-fiction, our game tells the story of…our team trying desesperatly to join Nanoreno three weeks before it begins. Inspired by actual conversations and actual people (who aren’t like that in real life, we swear !), you can now experiment…the frightening blank page syndrome.
I, Miku [GxE] - It is a dark and stormy night bright and sunny day in a typical Japanese high school, Tipakaru High, when a mysterious transfer student tentatively introduces herself. ZOMG, is that… the famous idol singer, Appuru Miku?? The one whose warm green eyes and hair captivate the world! In the flesh! But… what is she really like? Is she a genki girl? Tsundere? Does she have a dark and troubled past? Is she smart? Baka? Weak? Strong? Is she the magical girl that will save the world? The servant who will win the grail? The slider the Haruhi fans have been waiting for?? The chibi personification of a country?? A piece of software??? (Aw, c’mon, this is just getting ridiculous!) Is she… all of those things? Or nothing at all?
Midnight Chaos - Midnight Chaos is a short kinetic novel and part of the Sleepless Night series.
The Mishka Effect [comedy] - Mishka Florentine's been having a bad week. He's got an eviction notice on his apartment, his friend Veronica Blast won't give him the time of day, his new co-worker's giving him the creeps, and he even narrowly avoided being killed by a bloody stranger. When he finds a shack in the woods that seems to put him back in time by three days, he thinks he can turn all his luck around. ...But things aren't always that simple when you're playing with time
The One in Love [sci-fi] - In a distant or not so distant future, an unemployed teacher decides to venture into space to make enough money to save the life of his wife. While he's on a mission to extract minerals from a distant asteroid, the central computer of the spaceship alerts our spaceman that the three gynoid robots on board may have a malfunction and that they can enter at any time in what is called a state of "loss of vital extensions", or LOVE, for short.
One Leaf Clover [GxB, slice-of-life] - Souka seems to have a good life, and an even better boyfriend. However, Taru's luck is beyond bad, and his happy-go-lucky attitude just doesn't match up! Just what is the cause of his horrible luck? Will his luck cause an end to their special bond- or strengthen it beyond belief?
The Phantom Icecream Truck [horror] - A short horror story in a pseudo Lovecraftian vein. A detective is hired to investigate the kidnappings of several children.
Pretty [paranormal] - In a small town, mysterious disappearances have given rise to numerous rumors of unexplained creatures prowling the streets. You are a normal high school senior with a periphery interest in the supernatural. You wouldn't call it unhealthy or anything. It’s not like you spend your free time on ghost sighting blogs or anything like that (at least not every day). Even so, when a cute classmate asks for your help, you can’t help but say yes.
The Purifier [demons, humor, drama] - After the Great Flood, for 13,000 years a war between demons and Nephilim has been fought in the shadows of human perception. The mighty Nephilim drove the demons to the brink of extinction, but were betrayed by their great Pride and by an even greater Deception. Now the demons number in the trillions, while only seven Nephilim remain - the last of the Purifiers. The Second Great Purge looms, and the demons seek to prevent it from happening since it would spell their doom. But only the Purifiers hold the key to the end of all things and to the secret knowledge before the days of Adam. Only the Purifiers know the true purpose of this World. The time for Revelation is nigh.
Reverse Metamorphosis - The story features an apathetic social recluse, shut inside his own room for most of the time, much to his own liking. ...Until the peaceful life inside his own mind is shattered by a strange encounter seemingly out of nowhere.
Romance Detective [romance, mystery] - ROMANCE DETECTIVE is a visual novel made for NaNoRenO 2014. It’s a love story about a detective who solves crimes of passion alongside her partner, Romance Cop.
Romancing in the Dark - Jake wakes up in a dark world. In this world there are other denizens of the world. Can Jake trust Sally to get him out of this dark world?
Taarradhin [GxB, GxG] - A seven-year drought plagues the entire region surrounding the country of Nishtif, leading people to wonder if their goddess Scheknt has abandoned them. In contrast, young noblewoman Neqtia has lived a comfortable life insulated from hardship and suffering. One of the poorer surrounding countries, Djedi, sends their usual tribute of natural resources and livestock to Nishtif in exchange for the larger country's aid and protection. Rumors that two attractive slaves are among the cargo intrigue Neqtia. What lies in store for her after the slaves are brought to live at her family estate...?
Time's Up! Turn the Page! [slice of life] - Cassandra has just graduated from high school but has no idea what she’ll do next! Will she be able to come up with a plan before times up and the next chapter of her life begins?
Timeless [GxB, fantasy, mystery] - I've forgotten my past and now I feel like I'm nothing. But this strange red haired man says he might be able to help me. Can I trust him, or will I forever be in the dark about who I really am?
Visual Novel Tycoon [sim] - Visual Novel Tycoon is a time-management, stat-raising simulation where you get to make visual novels (as well as KNs, RPGs and simulations).
NaNoReNo 2014: Cardiff_Insane Letters
Summary An autobiography/autofiction of a month in Cardiff. In which we talk about gay sex, cigarettes and alcohol. It also involves imaginary lovers and imaginary murders.
Lenght: approximately 1 hour (~12000 words)
Presentation So... my first NaNoReNo, it was quite interesting (and intense). I did it all myself with the exception of the sprites of the characters (credits go to Lindis Farne, who I will pressure into coming on this site). It's also my first project in English, so there might be a few spelling mistakes left. Sadly it's not as good as I wanted it to be so there will probably be a 1.5 version around june/july with some improvements and the addition of some extras. It was quite interesting to use a VN as a mean for autobiography/autofiction, hope you guys will like it. TW for violence and suicidal tendencies.
