Three minutes to midnight on the night of the 27th of November 2020, and I broke 50,000 words for the month!
I can’t believe I found the time for this amidst taking 14 units and working part time. I have no idea what my plan is for December, but for now I’m going to see how many words I can get in the rest of November!
Firnian’s entire body flopped against the door of the royal quarters, startling a half-sleeping Thaylen. He quickly leaped out of bed and raced across the room, struggling but finally opening the heavy door made heavier by his lover’s weight. She looked up at him, grinned dazedly, then flopped into Thaylen’s arms.
“Oh no, have you been drinking again?” Thaylen pulled Firnian over to the bed.
“Drinking? Nah. Diplomatizing? You bet your ass!” Firnian giggled hard. “Tuck Inperia is a party animal, I tell ya.”
Thaylen raised his eyebrow. “’Tuck?’ You mean you two are already on nickname-basis friendship?”
Firnian let out a negative sound. “Not so much friendship as much as … um … well … drinking buddy basis?”
Thaylen sighed. “Come on, let’s get you in bed and let you sleep this off.” He dutifully removed Firnian’s boots.
Firnian gurgled slightly. “Wait, what are you doing?” she slurred. “There’s palace servants for that.”
“Yes, but palace servants aren’t suitable for this duty, not like I am.” The boots off, Thaylen next worked on removing Firnian’s pants. She yielded to him as they slid down her legs, revealing their muscular tone. Thaylen smiled at this. “Have I told you lately how much I love these swimmer’s legs of yours?”
Firnian let out a contented purr. “Not lately. But thanks.” She slid down to the floor, out of her tunic and left it on the bed like a confused snake shedding its skin. She wrapped her newly naked body around Thaylen and pulled him into a sloppy, drunken kiss. The maneuver caught Thaylen by surprise, but not that he was complaining. He clutched the woman’s body to his, his fervor growing.
He picked her up and laid her back down on the bed, his hands all over her prone, vulnerable body. His every touch, his nips, his licks were met with mewling squeals from Firnian, clearly enjoying herself more than she would have been if she were sober. His mouth made its way lower on her body, and the squeals made way for low moans, lowering in timbre as the prince made further progress.
With his face hovering barely above his goal, Thaylen became aware of a new sound coming from his lover. His heart sank, as did his arousal.
She was snoring.
Thaylen sighed, collecting himself from his amorous trance and continuing to tend to his drunken lover, slipping her body under the blankets of the bed. In a few minutes, he joined her in a comfortable, loving embrace in the bed, his hands drifting to her chest.
“I love you so much,” Thaylen whispered to her, knowing that she would never remember what he said in the morning through her alcohol haze. “I will be yours forever, no matter what.” He buried his face in Firnian’s hair, drifting to sleep.
The bedroom still had its musky smell creep out into the hallway as King Turgen made his way to his private lavatory. In his dressing robe, he appeared a comically elderly figure, with hunched posture and shuffling gait. His public persona could never reveal this; he always had to show the epitome of power and strength to friend and foe alike.
The wooden door to the lavatory opened with an echoing, audible creak. King Turgen looked up from his slightly sleepy daze in alarm as he realized he was not alone in the room.
“Hello, father.” Prince Guent’s voice floated through the room.
King Turgen breathed a sigh. “You need to be careful, or you’re going to literally scare the crap out of me.” The King made his way to a nearby commode. “What is it, boy?”
Prince Guent rubbed his nose with the back of his hand. “New missive from my brother, regarding Inperia’s whelp.” He unfolded a page from his pocket. “Not much learned from the Princess, other than she has a possibly superhuman ability to hold liquor.”
King Turgen grunted. “Disappointing. Though they’ve only been there a day, we should let them breathe a bit.”
“But we can’t wait, not if this Inperia is as adept a designer as her father.” Prince Guent slammed his fist down on the windowsill. “They could be mobilizing. They could be ready to strike anytime.”
The King narrowed his eyes at his chosen son. “Where are you getting your information, boy?” He grunted again.
“I have my sources. Top men. Really reliable.” Prince Guent rubbed his hand where his fist had struck the hard stone wall. “They say Technasia’s armed forces are itching to cross the border, they’re ready to wipe us out.”
King Turgen stood up from the commode, striding purposely over to where Prince Guent stood. “Is that so? Or maybe someone in this room has got a boner for destruction, and won’t be satisfied until blood is shed.”
The Prince swallowed hard.
“Now you listen here, you ungrateful little bastard,” King Turgen continued, now face-to-face with Prince Guent. “If you want to be a good King when I’m gone, you are going to back off from these shows of arrogant force. I will not tolerate insolence, especially if it means our nation’s army is placed at risk.” He grabbed the Prince’s wrist forcefully, twisting his arm around his back. “If I get wind of an army operation with orders coming from you that I didn’t approve, I swear to God and the bedrock of Litigia I will cut off your balls and throw you into the shittiest whorehouse in the kingdom. You got me?”
Prince Guent nodded, fearfully, his father’s authority still holding sway over him.
“Good. Now that we understand each other …” King Turgen cleared his throat. “I heard from Lord Qine about your meeting. Perhaps it is time for you to visit the borders and ensure our security, if that is truly your intent with this information.”
Prince Guent groaned. “But father …”
“This is not your father’s order. It is a command from your King. You will go to our border with Technasia and inspect our checkpoints. Lord Qine will assist you.”
King Turgen shuffled out of the lavatory, making the slow trek back to his bedroom. Prince Guent took a deep breath, realizing he had been holding it all this time, and slid down to his knees, trying to recover from his father’s threat.
The first rays of morning sunlight penetrated their way into the royal quarters. Firnian muttered and sat up in the bed, blankets falling away from her as she did. She quickly realized her mistake as a wave of vertigo threatened to knock her onto the floor.
“Urrrgh … how much did I drink?” Her eyes barely focused as she scanned the room. “Where am I?”
Thaylen, snuggling closer to his lover, muttered in half-sleep, “our quarters at the Technasian Central Palace. Come back to bed.”
Firnian looked down at Thaylen, equally as exposed as she was. Tempting …
“Oh God, not the time …” Firnian quickly jumped out of the bed and searched frantically for a receptacle. Upon finding a small wastebasket next to the dressing table, she shoved her head inside and loudly vomited.
Thaylen rubbed his eyes and sat up, still working the grogginess out of his system. He watched his curled up, naked lover as she crouched on the floor, head buried in the wastebasket like a nauseous ostrich. “Are you all right?”
The question was replied with a loud, painful groan.
“That’s why I don’t drink to excess like my family does,” Thaylen chided gently. “Too many mornings like this, too many chances to reveal my secrets.” He pulled the blankets off of himself and made his way to the dressing table, linen wrap at the ready, and started the morning ritual of wrapping himself.
“Need any … urp … help?” Firnian asked weakly.
“I got it, thank you. You don’t seem to be in a position to help anyone right now.”
Firnian flopped down on the floor, wastebasket to her side, kept handy in case another wave of nausea hit. “How bad was I when I came back?”
Thaylen chuckled as he continued wrapping. “Drunk enough to pass out when things were getting interesting.”
Firnian let out a depressed sigh. “I’m sorry, Thaylen, I don’t know why I let Princess Imogen get me drinking like that … oh wait, yes I do. We were bonding.”
“Bonding enough that she let you call her by a nickname.”
Firnian blushed. “That’s right …” Her thoughts trailed off. “Oh Jesus, my report!” She leaped to her feet and searched the nightstand for her hand slate.
“Already filed while you were sleeping, I hope you don’t mind.” Thaylen bent down and kissed Firnian gently. “Best to keep you in my father’s good graces than to risk his wrath.”
Firnian nodded. “Maybe you should try to talk to Princess Imogen today.”
“Perhaps.” Thaylen pulled on his pants. “I know for sure that I’m on the bad side of most of the Princesses in the Corps, but maybe I’ll have a shot with the newest who doesn’t know me.”
Firnian nodded in assent, finally picking herself up off of the floor and finding a fresh tunic. “Just … promise me you’ll be cautious. With everything.” She patted Thaylen’s wrappings.
“I will, don’t worry.” Thaylen pulled on his shirt, and had just buttoned it up when a knock came on the door. He walked over briskly to answer the knock.
An attendant stood outside. “Your Highness,” he announced as he bowed, “Her Majesty Queen Guerrania requests the presence of yourself and Lord Moethran in her dining room this morning.”
Thaylen sighed. So much for getting to know Princess Imogen; this brand of diplomacy would definitely last longer than breakfast. “I understand. Please tell Her Majesty that we will join her in half an hour.”
The attendant bowed again. “Very good, Your Highness.” He turned on his heel and walked back down the hallway.
Hey Book Dragon's!! Long time no update, so with coming to a close I'm said to announce that I will not make it to 50,000 words this year on my novel. It's said but I'm proud of the 10,000+ words I have done. I've had alot happen this past month, got a new job, got a car, and so on. My routine had been changed and I did not adapt my time well. But with all that said I'm making my own goal. My new goal is to have at least 25,000-50,000 words by the new year!!! I already know my novel will need to be longer then that but oh well this is my starter goal. Congrats to all the authors out there who will or have made it to 50,000 words by the end of Keep coming back for more updates and to see our next challenge for December. Keep reading Dragons! - S🐲

Reaching the part of nanowrimo where I’m getting closer to the middle part of the novel which I haven’t given as much thought to as the beginning and ending so now all I want to do is go back and fix up all the scenes in the beginning but I’m not gonna do that this year for once. I’m gonna keep pushing forward and it’s gonna be a hot mess but at least it’ll be something
