I came across another old text talking about creatures known as “Naratomnia.” Which apparently means “The Guard” according to the records. Which they are exactly what they sound like.
Naratomnia can take any form or shape, looking like any human or creature in the world. They are known to have unsettling or scary appearances, often large and threatening looking. But there are exceptions to this rule.
They have varying levels of intelligence, endurance, power, strength, and healing capabilities. They are known to have enhanced capabilities compared to other creatures though. Some were shown to have a high intelligence, others completely instinct driven. There’s never really been a way to test this though, as it’s apparently hard to track down a Naratomnia let alone get it to cooperate with any tests.
Apparently Naratomnia have one goal and one goal only, to protect their charges. They don’t have any known moral compass to speak of and will get very aggressive if their charge is put in danger, only purposely protecting them. They only care for their charges and anyone else benefiting from this is a byproduct. It’s unknown how the charges are picked, or if there really is any rhyme or reasoning to it.
It’s also unknown how they came into existence or even how many exist, especially considering they’re not always seen by anyone but their charge. There have been reports in the past of people having relationships and children with their Naratomnia, though not many in recent years. Though there’s not many reports about Naratomnia existing in general nowadays.
Again, these are some curious creatures. I have to wonder if these were just stories made up by the people in the past or if they really existed at all. Going by the documents, they certainly seem real but I don’t know. I guess it’s to be seen.
