Sometimes I wonder if The Lamb and The Goat have really deep conversations in the middle of the night about their traumas and individual journeys from the last of their kind to gods.
This is low key based on my own tendency of trauma processing to myself or with a close friend after 2 am, but I do think it would fit The Lamb and The Goat. I mean, they both maintain the same expression. All. Day. If the majority of followers are awake and have spread out across the cult, the social mask is up and not budging. So I feel like they would only ever open up at night when there’s only one, maybe two followers awake and they can easily hide away.
I think The Lamb would mainly focus on trying to process their very obvious trauma with losing their flock, and probably gaining really intense trust issues afterwards especially after Narinder’s betrayal (I call it a betrayal because even if it’s implied in game before it happens, Narinder did partake in a lie of omission when he didn’t specify the sacrifice part of the deal). So I don’t doubt that they’d have a hard time trusting people, especially the bishops and/or those close to them, leading to a pattern of avoidance of that makes sense. I think they’d even admit to The Goat that their whole charade of a calm and composed cult leader was just them trying to hide any potential weaknesses should someone wish to strike them down.
I think The Goat would have a similar experience, but they would have traumas in a different sense. Like, it’s said The Goat is a dark reflection of The Lamb, so while I think they have similar trust issues I don’t think they might have the same family issues. Maybe by a darker reflection that includes a worse upbringing with little to no family. Or maybe The Goat lost their family when they were very young and so have less memories to cling to. Hell, maybe they never had a family to begin with. I do think that in the place of family trauma they’d have abandonment issues, maybe even a fear of being alone. So the reason for their persona was to keep people at a distance so, in their mind anyways, no one could abandon them again.
I think they’d get especially open about this after a drink or two, since alcohol lowers inhibitions and could relax them a bit.
Hell, it might even get the attention of a certain cat and spider who just so happened to be awake at that hour…
