I have an honest question about SPoP, as I have not still not been able to bring up the energy to watch an entire series (although I’ve committed to doing SPoP first…).
Based upon the climax of a season, how would you describe the primary conflict of that season?
For example, while S4 ends on a cliffhanger the climax is Adora shattering the Sword of Protection to prevent the activation of the Heart of Etheria.
Based on what I’ve read about S4, I would therefore describe the conflict this climax addresses as “Will Adora and the rest of the Rebellion be able to make the right choices / the hard sacrifices required to protect the people of Etheria?”
Because the climax of S5 is Catra’s love confession and the kiss. Full stop, defeating Prime is an afterthought.
Which would suggest the conflict of S5 is “Will Adora be able to get a relationship where she kisses someone?”
….
Obviously, some people would argue it’s supposed to be “Will Adora stop sacrificing herself and let herself have what she wants?”
To which I request a list of all the things in seasons 1-4 Adora stated she wanted (e.g. to understand her family of origin), and how many of those “gets a romantic partner” fulfills.
