This blog (and wiki) is dedicated to SEGASonic. The consistent Sonic Team depiction of the Sonic series and its characters before localization. This is explained by the writer Daniel Barnes.
Some notes about what is and isn't SEGASonic:
All media primarily created by Sonic Team is SEGASonic. The Sonic Channel timeline of games, The Mario & Sonic series (not canon but in line with the Sonic Team depiction), Sonic Rivals 1 and 2 (Written by Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka) and Sonic Team made promotional media are SEGASonic.
Localization changes are not SEGASonic as they veer away from Sonic Team's vision and cause most of the inconsistencies in the series. (With the exception of Sonic Team localizations of Japanese English first games, those versions are both more consistent with SEGASonic and considered canon over the initial English scripts)
Several magazine comics (particularly those by Makoto Hirono) are not canon or directly made by Sonic Team but are SEGASonic because they have the same depictions. (Canon=/SEGASonic)
IDW Sonic, the Shogakukan manga, Sonic Prime and Sonic X are Semi-SEGASonic. The former two are canon while Sonic X was made with Sonic Team involvement but all three have notable heavy discrepancies with the SEGASonic. Shogakukan is it's own thing but still more in line with SEGASonic than most other spin-offs.
Japanese localizations handled by Sonic Team such as Sonic Prime or the Sonic movies are Semi-SEGASonic. They're made more consistent with SEGASonic as Sonic Team localizes them but are still noticeably different as they are not originally made as SEGASonic.
The Sega of America Sonic Bible and all things derived from it are not SEGASonic. They are what I will call MobiusSonic. The DiC Sonic cartoons, Archie Sonic and some other early spin-off media is MobiusSonic.
Due to Takashi Iizuka wanting to connect and unify the Sonic brand more and more Sonic media will be SEGASonic and closer to SEGASonic than ever before.
It can be spelled as SEGASonic or SegaSonic.
Despite the heavy Japanese media focus you do not have to be Japanese to be SEGASonic. As long as you're in the Sonic Team depiction then you are SEGASonic. We're here to act as a guide to that and bring SEGASonic lore and characterization to the western side of things which will be necessary with Iizuka's brand unification.
