#narrative vs reality

You can answer in your tags if you want. I don’t want to bring any additional nonsense to your ask box with this reflection. I think folks are struggling with this new girlfriend because - if there was a way to prove beyond a doubt that Louis was into women and this wasn’t all a charade - it would be incredibly disappointing to realize he is just like every other man out there who prefers thin, blonde, white, Botoxed women who don’t need to be decent people or bring anything else to the table because they’re “hot.” I think it creates a lot of cognitive dissonance when you have one idea of who someone is because of how they’ve presented themselves through their art, but then everything you see them doing runs completely counter to that. It’s a bit of a mind fuck really.

I think - especially in this day and age we are currently living in - regular people are sick of seeing women like her being held up as the gold standard of femininity, and given opportunities she wouldn’t have if she didn’t fit this cookie-cutter model of what women need to be - and do - in order to have worth in our world. (Maybe it’s all the Tr*mp Nazi Barbies in our faces 24/7 these days…) But I’m willing to bet there are a lot of talented women documentarians out there who will never get the same opportunities because they’re fat. Or black. Or trans. Or older. And so seeing Louis putting himself out there effectively upholding these standards and ideals by dating someone like her is really rubbing people the wrong way at the moment.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around why there has been such a knee-jerk reaction to this situation. I think it really comes down to - “if this is really who this man wants me to believe he is, and this is really what he prefers and values, do I really want to support him?”

I mean, many of us have been saying this for a decade now. If you really believe Louis is a dad and is actually dating the women he's seen with, why tf are you his fan? And the same goes for Harry. I might forgive a lot of things the two of them do, but if I believed the official narratives about them, I would be embarrassed to be a fan.

I don't understand the choice of Zara. I admit I'm paying very little attention to the nonsense, but so far it's making very little sense.

so Connor is just never getting a solo moment. at this point I’m assuming his team is a bunch of fucking incompetent losers. bc wtf is this. why are you building your client's image tied to another hangers on costar. so much for distancing yourself from Hudson to be different artists but immediately attaching yourself to THIS guy. I’m actually so annoyed that Connor's team has allowed this man to be at every single event and appearance with Connor. that’s simply bad image building. especially for a new star launching his career.

hi, how did the whole ‘enemy narrative’ between H & L come about? like did they just stop interacting?

asking bc i saw a post about a certain 1D concert in 2015 and they said oh H & L obviously didn’t interact

1DHQ pushed that narrative, starting in 2013 when their closet shifted and became much more severe and restrictive. They stopped allowing H and Louis to sit next to each other, interact directly on and off stage, they couldn't be pictured together, only with the band, couldn't post each other, etc etc.... basically they could only acknowledge each other in reference to One Direction and within the band. Everything else, they had to act like they didn't know each other.

1DHQ went as far as spreading this narrative that they hated each other in the press, promo, gossip articles and sites. Saying they didn't so much as travel together on tour and that they needed separate planes/cars etc.

It was bullshit, bc we have plenty of video, photos and stories that show that this narrative was totally a lie that they spread to fragment the fandom, create more engagement, boost their PR and closet H + L further.

We have plenty showing that they did travel together a lot on tour, shared clothes, shared a dressing room, interacted bts, etc etc etc.

This is why larrairport was such a big deal at the time too, bc after so long of that bs narrative, we got pap pics showing HL traveling together in the same private plane.

This narrative is basically the root of the state of this fandom today, and all the issues this fandom has to this day, and why it's so fragmented. We have antis vs larries, solos vs ot4/ot5, and a bunch of other fandom groups. It worked brilliantly for 1DHQ and 1D's PR bc by having fan infighting they guaranteed fandom engagement and retention.

So I really hope I'm right in the fact I don't believe L is a dad because if he is infact a dad , it is crazy that he seems to have so much free time to travel and go on holidays with his friends / band etc but not use every opportunity to go see his son? Obv I don't know L personally but he seems like a massive family man and that shines through his relationship with his sisters and his loving nature . However when you think about how faking him being a father , it feels impossible and stupid to believe but I just believe it he's not a dad . Do you know what I mean

I think many of us who’ve been here for a while have been saying this for years. If you believe the official narrative, then you’re believing that both Harry and Louis have some pretty questionable morals.

I was rewatching louis' doc with a friend and when we got to H and L hugging I was super happy and smiling like an idiot since I'm a larrie. my friend isn't (I'd call her a casual 1D fan and a harry fan) and she said that the hug was "fucking heartbreaking". I was confused and she explained that from her pov it was just a "polite hug" (don't know how else to translate it in english sorry), something they did because, even though they're not friends anymore, it was the end of everything, and it was just what had to be done. since she believes they used to be best friends and aren't anymore, she saw it as something that was really sad/melancholic. she told me that the hug made her think about how maybe in another universe they never stopped being friends, and that it made her want to cry. and since then I've been thinking a lot about how that hug, or just H and L in general, must look to people who don't know their history, idk why... and it just makes me really sad??

Hi, darling. I think the fact that everyone views everything through their own lens of beliefs, experiences, and desires is why so much of what Harry and Louis do publicly has an element of plausible deniability.

I can see why she’d come to the conclusion she did, given her beliefs. It’s interesting to see, though, how firmly people will hold on to that once they’re presented with another way to see things.

Have you guys talked about how he shaded Olivia during the interview. She came to half his shows and he talked about how touring can be lonely but he's used to it. And how after the concert he goes to sleep for 10 hours, not does whatever people think he does. I mean the guy pretty much said he doesn't see her. Wouldn't this have been the perfect time for him to say how touring is tiring but at least his girlfriend is there for parts of it. Or am I misunderstanding that? I honestly don't think he'll actually mention her at all during promo season. I mean he already established loml is about motherland, so the pap walks, which he's phoning in, might be enough for him?

Wait I’m a bit confused, was Olivia seen with him now? Or was he seen in London by more people than this blog? Obviously apart from Deuxmoi saying that she knows where they are because that’s not really information

Yes, they said Olivia was with him. I guess they're back to doing their weird park walks to be spotted. More people saw him there today. I guess we might see a picture on deuxmoi or twitter or something.
