th pokemon fic explanation: 

so in 2012 i started this “series” of fanfics originally titled lost, with the main characters being an orphaned, bitter purrloin and a whimsical yet knowledgable glameow. the idea of the story was every person(/creature) has several alternate versions of themselves spread out over multiple dimensions, only rarely coexisting in the same world. each of them are watched over by a single guardian (based on gardevoir in pmd blue/red rescue team). heres the characters: 

naruka the purrloin, the main protagonist: 

naruka’s family was cursed to die and leave her to suffer without them, and while her parents died shortly after that, her sister (artemis) lived for a few years before succumbing to sickness. she’s angry, confused, and self-loathing. why was she alive and no one else? she acts cold to just about anyone. 

glare the glameow: 

glare was abandoned by his trainer as a kitten. despite this, he keeps an upbeat but smug attitude. he helped naruka leave the town she grew up in when she couldnt bear to be there after her sister’s passing. naruka considers him a nuisance at the start of their time together, but eventually grows fond of him. he’s the reincarnation of one of naruka’s alternate versions’ partner, lyric. glare was later supposed to be killed by plutarch.

kyokkou the hybrid: 

kyokkou appears to be the combination of purrloin/liepard and suicune. he exists as a guardian, and works with the ghost of graytail to move fate along. he communicates with his charges through dreams and visions, rarely appearing to them in the waking world as a wispy figure. 

graytail the liepard: 

created by jade. graytail was an old, gray furred liepard who protected celestial tower’s bell. he lost his family to a flood caused by plutarch. as a ghost, he watches over and fusses over his adopted daughter glimmer and his granddaughter naruka. he feels remorseful for what they went through, and although he doesnt personally know their other selves, he protects them with the best of his ability. 

glimmer the glameow: 

sharing the same spirit as naruka, glimmer is an aging shiny glameow who went through trauma earlier in her life. she’s distant, and wears an eviolite on her necklace given to her by her late mother. at the time of seneca and plutarch’s reign, she was one of the last glameows on the planet. as a kitten, she was adopted by naruka’s father, graytail, who resided at celestial tower as the guardian of its bell before his passing. she’s the eldest of the four, considered the watcher. 

plutarch the persian: 

created by jade. formerly a member of a gang of persian run by seneca, his goal was to aid seneca in committing feline pokemon genocide, destroying every race but their own. his gem is an odd deep blue. before, he was a dear friend of graytail until joining with seneca, separating graytail from his mate red and his daughter narika, who would later be naruka’s mother. after encountering narika and kestrel, an ex gang member, and their daughters on a raid, he was enraged and cursed them to die- save for naruka herself. but because he mission was to kill the liepards/purrloins now, he was punished by seneca and killed. he later returned as a demon, combined with an evil hydreigon soul and bearing lyric’s markings after killing him. 

lilac the delphox: 

glimmer’s old friend and fierce protector, they met when she was a newly evolved braixen. she was engaged to another braixen- finnick- and they wore gifts from each other to show it. even after finnick runs away, she keeps the lilac-shaped wooden necklace. after seeing finnick had teamed up with plutarch, she was furious and hurt. she spends a good portion of her life after that to tracking him down, and eventually finds him when glimmer, naruka and the others go after plutarch. the years of betrayal and rage she felt bubbled back up and she cornered the delphox. as she held him against the wall and screamed at him, finnick, disobeying his orders to kill her, was struck and felled by an arrow. shenregrets her actions and mourns him the rest of her life. 

finnick the delphox: 

created by jade. finnick and lilac both grew up in a desert community of fennekins/braixen/delphox and as tradition there, they were meant to be married. in their clan, mystic fire is used to forsee what pokemon would fall in love, and both he and lilac were happy to oblige. his gift from her was a blue bow tie. over time, he begins using dark magic after listening to the whispers of plutarchs ghost, and it begins to consume him, blackening parts of his fur and slowly eating away the goodness in him. afraid of hurting lilac, he lies tells her that this is the end of their relationship, scares her, and flees. he later returns, little feeling for anyone and the magic taking him over. he aids in killing lyric by distracting glimmer and her party. when lilac finds him again as a delphox, he doesnt fight back when she attacks him. in fact, he starts to come back to himself, battling his mind between regret and lack of emotion. he refuses to kill lilac, and plutarch kills him.

lyric the espeon: 

lyric was the last known espeon left in the region. he had black fur covered in glowing cyan runes, and a former poet/singer for a now deceased community of espeon/eevee. he found glimmer after graytail died and aided her. he became her mate, although for a short while, as plutarch killed him. he is reincarnated as glare. 

seneca the persian: 

created by jade. no longer alive nor relevant during naruka’s time, seneca was a large, black pallas-cat based persian who hated all other feline pokemon. he led the attacks against the other cats. 

annalise the suicune: 

a shadow pokemon, annalise is from an alternate world. she’s shares spirit with glimmer and naruka, and while she suffers from intense migrains, she tries to be as friendly as possible. her shadow state is permanent, from unknown causes. she’s considered the brute force of the four versions. she returns to her world after defeating plutarch. 

kody the skitty: 

kody comes from an alternate dimension inhabited only by pokemon. she’s extremely nervous and misses her partner, worrying about them every waking moment. she wears a large purple bow on her neck. being from a world full of mystery dungeons, she’s the thinker and strategizer of the group. she returns to her world after defeating plutarch. 

maney the manectric: 

created by jade. not a lot to say about him because idk anything about him. he’s finnick’s adopted brother and wears a shell bell
