Some people complain that this scene became useless/or was thrown away because of the ff:
- Naruto did not immediately answered Hinata’s confession (which was already countered by @godzillanon . Thanks!. Link here: x)
- The significance of the moment vanished because Naruto did not get what Hinata really meant of “love you” (which was countered by @remedialaction -- read this people.).
But, you know… I disagree to all antis.
Chapter 437 did not lose its significance in any ways!
Because, In the LAST, it is one of the MAJOR flashbacks that were used. (Well, for me, THE MAJOR flashback)
Let’s examine the genjutsu scene.
Before the scarf intervention thing, Naruto saw the ff flashbacks:
1. The academy activity with Iruka
2. Chuunin Exam (Kiba Vs. Naruto) until the ointment scene.
Yes, this scene flashed even before the scarf thing. Meaning, Naruto was already thinking of Hinata.
You may say, “nooo, but the scarf was already at his back, So it’s Hinata’s memories.” Hell NO, IT IS Naruto’s memories. Remember, he was thinking of the Kiba VS Naruto fight, after that what happened? The ointment scene right? It is linear.
And remember, in Hinata’s dream, we saw the Pain arc NOT the chuunin exam.
Then, the scarf started to wrap around Naruto. Then what happened?
He was pulled against the wall and entered another flashback, THE PAIN ARC. Who’s dreaming of the Pain arc? HINATA.
The context is very clear; this is the start when Naruto entered Hinata’s mind/perspective.
After that, we saw the academy activity scene and the ointment scene again (But now, in Hinata’s perspective). Then, after that, we saw Hinata and Sakura’s conversation. Now, Naruto realized the meaning of Hinata’s confession in chapter 437
So what I’m trying to say here is this…
Hinata’s confession in chapter 437 did not go into waste. BECAUSE, IT WAS USED in the LAST, so Naruto could understand the meaning of LOVE. Plain and Simple.
Without Hinata’s confession in chapter 437, Naruto would NEVER understand ROMANTIC LOVE.
That’s why, Naruto did not wait for Hinata to confess again. HE IS THE ONE who CONFESSED. HE now knows understand what he really feels about her.
