I actually really liked the Eternal Genin made for the filler.. but then it had to get awkward as Kishimoto went "well I want to do an eternal genin/strongest genin story too!" And the anime went "fine but we're keeping ours still" (I mean lowkey I like Kosuke's story more than Guy's dad too... hot take sorry)

Honestly this is just a great little chibi omake thing, and weirdly not the last time we'd see Naruto baseball

Anybody notice in that omake where Yamato has "lost" his script (in which Kakashi has actually stolen it) when Kakashi hands it over, one of the doodles he's put in is a real cute Yamato?

Cmon. If that's doesn't say "i fancy u" then I don't know what else. These two should be dating ;)

P.S. I think it kinda suits them that if they were dating they might keep it private, like forever. They're both pretty private individuals who like/need some level of secrecy (Anbu, safety concerns and all that) plus it's just a little bit of a headcanon for me that they would always keep their relationships under tight wraps. Avoid all the awkward questions etc and I think they get their kicks from sneaking around. Besides, they broadcast it enough the way they mess around, and the implication is there for anyone who reads between the lines.

I reckon the teasing and bickering gives off a kind of "yeah, he's mine" kind of vibe, and everyone just accepts that. Their friends now wonder not only about what Kakashi looks like under the mask but also what the heck these two guys get up to together ;)) You can bet they'll be saying "wtf did Yamato do before to get so close to Kakashi? How tf did he get past this guy's impenetrable social defences??"

And Gai's just like all over it, he just sneakily watches them when they're occupied and cries joyously about it to all their friends bcs LOVE and YOUTH and THAT'S HIS BOI KAKASHI FALLING IN LOVE RIGHT THERE

It's truly a joy to behold and I totally think all their friends ship it too. I mean finally they know what Kakashi's into - cute parading as "not cute"TM with a big defiant streak. I wish there was an actual word to describe exactly the kind of person Yamato is - I may need to study this further 😳
