i think what intrigues me most about naruto and it as a vessel for fan work is the team dynamics. it is shown that genin teams form super strong bonds, between people that would hate each other otherwise. i can’t handle that the sanin and team 7 are the exact same situation. that team 8 is still so close and loves each other, and that ino-shika-cho are close and love each other but there’s been GENERATIONS of them. kakashi mourns his team often, he’s a teammate without a team. we know hiruzen is still influenced by his team members as hokage. it’s just so ripe for opportunity in fic or art.

i feel like people don’t talk about physical propaganda in naruto enough. the whole ‘Will of Fire’ thing is talked about, of course. but no one mentions that there’d definitely be propaganda posters and murals and other crazy stuff. obviously, the hokage monument exists and that’s probably the biggest way to do propaganda. i’m more talking about how there’s definitely some pin-ups of the Sannin made during the second shinobi war. strangely homoerotic posters of naruto and sasuke after the blank period. there is a magazine centerfold of sakura flexing her muscles out there. this should be a thing that we talk about more.
