Friend’s mom “Where’d you get that nose?”
As an adolescent, some of my friends mothers were the first to present cold symptoms that made me feel…ummm kind of warm inside ;)
One friends mom was particularly susceptible to a big honking head cold. Redness, nasality and a lovely sneeze that ended with her nose buried in a tissue. The blow always honked like a horn and her nose would chap along the nostrils.
She would also love to share the details. I’d ask “oh Mrs smith… where’d you catch that cold?” Her response was always wonderfully thick with detail and nasality. “Oh Brian …thank you for asking. this one is a doozy, too…got this nose from my co-worker who was blowing her stupid nose all day; leaving snotty tissues all over, too. I was bound to pick it up.”
She was delicious. A captive and willingly available participant. I’d go over - actually visiting this friend with some excitement at the prospect of seeing mom’s nose loaded with cold - of course, at the time - I had no idea why. But I’d hear her sneezing loudly and blowing endlessly. Big thunder honks with an apology “sorry- just me blowin”.
Needless to say - I was hardening quite obviously to what she was saying. Well anyone with the fetish likely would. But…
“I got this nose”…
What a great way to describe a cold. “this nose”
Or in her case it was always “Dis doze”. The best… She always managed to describe her illness in that way. And then would proceed to ask me in the same way… “my goodness, Brian— where ever did you catch that nose?”
As a common cold magnet- it seemed she was always asking me that question. I’d tap on my sore nostril and say. Dodt doe bissus sbith…but stay back you dodt wadt to catch it ….
I was nasally but always polite ;)
