(the problem is the process pics i have are all so chaotic i can't tell what's different between each one, so... this is the earliest one, and it was before i decided to add some fairies, which makes it different enough to be interesting, or something. ^^;;;;)

Took some progress shots as I kept working on each piece! Some were easier than others. I think Luna took me the longest and felt the most challenging.

A written record for me on which order did I tidied up first: Jessica, Mia, Luna, Nash, Alex, and Kyle.

Part of me is wondering if the Lunar game series is about to get the Psychonauts treatment, where the release of a new game suddenly changes it from being a niche cult classic to something universally adored. And I'll finally get to info dump on people on how I used to hyperfixate on Nash as a teenager.

thoughts from the premier’s desk: nash rumack and trauma

as always, note that i haven’t been engaging with the media for a while, so my memory is rusty, and is also based on things granted to us in external medias. i am also speaking from the position of someone who has experienced trauma like what is theorized.

nash definitely has some kind of trauma, which was likely what the sisters and the magic emperor used to manipulate him. see his reaction to doing something "wrong" in the novels.

it's likely that nash's ego, while seen as him boasting about his position as ghaleon's apprentice by others, is him coping with being manipulated and having this trauma, he's trying to assure himself he's not being used, that he's ghaleon's apprentice because he's "special".

this is why he's extremely attached to mia and alex. mia being the first genuine friend he has (and he's aware she's being manipulated too, see: xenobia) and alex being the one to basically break him out of the control the vile tribe sisters (and the magic emperor) have on him temporarily.

nash is, also, notably too shy to actually express this trust in mia for a long time. every time he gets close, he seems to back off. this is likely because he feels it’s not safe-- either for her or for himself. speaking from personal experience, a person who was demonized as a child and manipulated into feeling like they’re the cause of terrible things will have trouble coming forward about their feelings, especially if it’s romantic, seeing it as putting a loved one in harm’s way.

nash’s turning on the party is where the manipulation becomes obvious. he’s doing this because ghaleon and the sisters told him to. he’s doing it to impress the person who put high expectations on him. we never see nash’s parents, and iirc they’re never mentioned, so it’s likely nash views ghaleon as a father figure, almost. nash tries his best to impress ghaleon, he’ll do whatever he’s told because he doesn’t know what else to do. he feels like he has no one else- he’s probably been told he has no one else. mia going to the effort to snap (or should i say, slap) him out of it grounds him, because holy shit, she cares.

now, in no way am i outright saying nash has ptsd or something; but as a traumatized boy who sees a lot of himself in nash, it would make quite a bit of sense.
