Pieces you grasp with every fiber,

A few whispers of your past.

Padlocked in your very being,

Moments you wish to outlast.

Where stories find their meaning,

Where lyrics find their song.

Fragile shadows of what was,

Where in weakness you were strong.

In breaths of what used to be,

Where words could never define.

Where we ourselves could never return,

Lie the fragments of our design.

Our battles and our triumphs,

Our darkness and our light.

The lessons that made us run,

The dreams that made us fight.

Those hearts that made us pine,

The friends that we have lost.

The ‘what if’s’ that made us wonder,

The lines that we have crossed.

The mistakes that shape our minds,

The one’s who have walked away.

The tears that we have shed,

For those who were led astray.

The happiness we could not contain,

The pain that we crawled through.

The lyrics that have given hope,

And the lies that have rung true.

Under each and every silver lining,

We find our reasons to believe.

That our difference has been made,

When our time comes to leave.
