I can just imagine Flins giving Nat a ring with a moonstone in it or maybe something subtle

Or if we're feeling dramatic those gorgeous Gothic rings

I know in some cultures they'd make a bride a dagger but I raise you!!! Flins making Nat a dagger as an engagement/courting piece and it's gorgeous. Because he wants his beloved to be able to stay safe and in a way it's symbolic as if he's saying he'll be there for Nat even if he can't physically be there.

Like he'll definitely teach Nat how to defend themselves if they don't know how to already. There's just something so romantic about a lover making a weapon for you, like they know you're capable of handling yourself but they want to be able to help you because you're precious to them.

Yet they also know that they can't always be by your side so this weapon they've lovingly made is the next best thing because they can be there in spirit and help you stay safe. And that's enough to put their heart at ease.

thinking about flins spending so much time trawling treasures and precious stones for the most perfect ones for me; he wants me to have both a ring and a dagger, though he hopes i will never have to use the latter - the former . . . well, he's a traditional soul, at heart, and the idea of a ring binding us together simply fits in with his romantic notions about being together forever!

but just a few simple jewels in the pommel of a pretty knife i could get anywhere wouldn't do. he needs - not neccessarily the most beautiful, for he understands that there is more to value than beauty - but the ones that speak to his soul and will speak to mine. he has the hilt and the blade inscribed; the hilt with love poems, and the blade with words of protection in the fae language

Honestly Flins probably wouldn't even think to bring up that he has a spouse (that's more a human thing) and no one ever asked if he was taken.

Like, if he was asked directly then yeah he'd confirm it but ig everyone in Nod-Krai really looked at him and just assumed that there's no way he dates or whatever.

Little do they know that he's wrapped around your finger and will get you stuff imported from other nations 💗 you deserve only the best

flins is a man of mystery and that also extends to his spouse who may or may not be a ghost, it seems. he's always extremely polite if a little stand-offish when people do flirt with him - and they do! - to the point people do probably assume he has no interest in romance, he's simply too devoted to his work as a ratnik . . . not realising that it's actually a case of him being devoted to someone else.

I feel like Flins would be cryptic but in a funny way

Like "oh you know how it is, sometimes souls wander around and feel most comfortable in certain areas, who am I to be a bad host?" Since souls wander can be applied to the living, so it's not technically a lie.

People just assumed ah weird respectable guy that deals with ghosts, it's probably a ghost lady that just wants company and he's being polite wow he's very considerate

new thought: flins never bothers telling anyone that i am not a ghost and that the vague apparition with pale hair and skin in a flowing nightgown that occasionally appears at the windows of the lighthouse is actually his houseguest/significant other to the point that the first time a visitor sees me whilst they’re having tea with flins and i wrap my arms around him from the back and kiss his cheek they almost have an aneurysm
