Mr. Schmidt: You know, to go back to my previous comments, long ago we capped soft tissue injury compensation and then . . . [interjection] Mr. Speaker, I’m trying to focus on the automobile insurance rate system. I think the Government House Leader is disappointed with my comments.
Mr. Schow: Spice it up a little bit.
Mr. Schmidt: All right. All right. Hold on a second. Points of order.
The Speaker: I don’t advise that.
Mr. Schmidt: Now, if you’ll grant me latitude, Mr. Speaker, I understand that I do have a small place in your heart according to Hansard but also according to Hansard that it’s shrinking every day.
The Speaker: My heart is full.
Mr. Schmidt: Now, Mr. Speaker, I would commend to you a morality tale called the grinch who stole Christmas. [interjection] That’s a story about somebody whose heart was shrinking and saw the error of his ways and reversed that trend. Hopefully, there would be something in there for you.

Alberta film industry eyes reopening as it interprets new guidelines
Everything from locations to storylines could change under new rules
Alberta's film industry is moving closer to getting the cameras rolling again across the province as groups work to establish new guidelines and safety protocols around COVID-19.
The industry was forced to shut down in March as cases of the virus started to rise. Work ground to a halt on all movies and series being shot in the province, leaving thousands of workers laid off.
The list of Alberta productions that were suspended included two movies, The Land and Moonfall, along with three TV series, Wynonna Earp, the Netflix show Black Summer and a new Amazon series called Outer Range.
More than 1,850 film industry employees and many thousands more who rely on the industry's presence are hoping new guidelines will mean a return to work could be just weeks, rather than months, away.

On Monday, Press Progress reported that in 2009 Cooper hosted a radio show called Family Action Radio, where he interviewed Scott Lively, an American evangelist who promoted anti-LGBTQ views. He wrote a book about why the "homosexual agenda" should alarm Christians.
Interim United Conservative Party leader Nathan Cooper says he has renounced views he held on LGBTQ issues when he worked a decade ago for a conservative group called Canada Family Action.
"Those statements do not reflect my views today in any capacity," Cooper said at a news conference in Edmonton on Tuesday. "I believe in an open and inclusive party for all Albertans regardless of their race, their creed, their orientation."
Cooper said it is important that society is inclusive and reflects the face of the province. He also credited the three openly LGBTQ members of the NDP caucus for helping him better understand the issues.

"Over a ten-year period, you learn a lot," he said. "Values and views sometimes change.
"I think there were lots of things I didn't understand then, that I know now."

The Speaker: I’m excited to announce that over the last number of months I have been working very closely with a wonderful Alberta company that many of you will be familiar with, Smithbilt Hats. As you can see, on my head today is a new Alberta tradition that brings together all of the important parts of the traditional tricorne as part of the Speaker’s attire but given a slight western flair. I’m pleased to introduce this uniquely Alberta tricorne that blends the traditions of the hat as a symbol of the Speaker’s authority with our western roots, intertwining the history of ranching, farming, and the influence of rodeo cultures.
Now, all members will know the importance of the tricorne hat to each individual Speaker. That is, in the late 1800s the tricorne hat was popularized by being the most common of all hats. Today it is a reminder every day of the Speaker’s important role to that of the elected representatives and by extension the people of Alberta; the people’s hat, you might say. It’s my pleasure to introduce a distinctly unique Alberta tradition to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

Member Miyashiro: I ask the minister: was anyone consulted prior to making the decision to cut funding, or was it just another deliberate, unilateral decision to inflict pain on people with disabilities and their families?
The Speaker: I just want to provide a caution to the hon. member. In the last two questions you made an allegation that the government would intentionally bully people, that they would inflict pain on people. I think that’s getting very close to the level of a point of order.
